Good Mood Food

Today has been one of these dull days, which would normally leave me reaching for the nearest sugary snack, but today I decided to take a different approach to combat the Monday blues. When you really think about it junk Food makes me happy in the short term as it tastes good and I get a buzz from knowing your doing something I really should'nt. However in the long term it makes me feel like crap because the sugar rush doesnt last long and it makes my mood even worse than before I ate it.

My solution to this is to seriously consider why Iam feeling low in the first place and deal with the problem rather for grabbing the nearest chocolate biscuit. I find a good way to keep track of different  feelings is to keep a journal, this way I know my patterns. Also by doing this Iam able to make the link between food and my mood and made me realise when Iam most likely to comfort eat.

So instead of junk food today I had mood boosting power foods and guess what ?  I dont feel half as bad as I did when I woke up this morning. I simply had some blueberries, an orange and some celery sticks as snacks. For meals I had whole grain cereal and whole meal bread for my sandwhiches because whole grain apparently is digested  more slowly due to there high fibre content and therfore keep the blood sugar levels stable.
