Weather and things to do:

I have been to mahabaleshwar many times but this trip in rainy season was a treat. You hardly get to see the sun and in the evenings the temperature drops which is a delight for holidayers. Having to spend most of the time in the bustling metro cities with fast life a break from regular routine and visit to mahabaleshwar is 100% satisfying for visitors. Every moment that you end up spending at mahabaleshwar is priceless. It’s like a green carpet all around, peace, silence and no hurry to go to work makes the time spent at mahabaleshwar in rains really exceptional. Although there are many popular spots within mahabaleshwar amongst tourists which you would always see crowded during summer season however you do not feel the need to visit these tourist attraction points in rainy season. This is due to the fact that the calmness that you get in rainy season is such a joy to experience that you feel it’s not really required for you to go out and travel to these different tourist points. You just want to relax and feel the atmosphere created by nature around you.

How to Reach:

Mahabaleshwar being very close to Mumbai and Pune city it attracts even more crowd all year round from these two cities, although you would see the most crowd during winter season. It does not take more than 5-6 hours to reach mahabaleshwar if you are starting from Mumbai or Pune. You can easily hire a cab from these cities to reach mahabaleshwar. Due to it being above 4000 ft of sea level there are no trains or other transport options and you have to travel by road. When you are about 30-40 kilometers away from mahabaleshwar, It takes about an hour or so to reach. Typically the speed of vehicle is slow due to the fact that you have to climb up the hill however this is also an astonishing sight that one gets to see. Every kilometer or mile that you cover climbing up the hill the view becomes more and more beautiful. It’s purely nature at its best at Mahabaleshwar in rains.

Often holidayers are seen stopping by on the road near the waterfalls, taking pictures, bathing in and making the best opportunity to have fun out of their trip. You only get to see the waterfalls at mahabaleshwar in rains and not during any other season. You would also get to sight monkeys in mahabaleshwar. Travelers are often seen offering maize, chana and other food stuff to monkeys so to attract them and get a chance to view monkeys. Its fun to watch monkeys jumping on the trees and moving here and there to grab food offered by the tourists.
