Our summer vacation took us to Malta for a week.
A spot of luxury in Sliema
We arrived at Malta airport on a Tuesday afternoon in mid-August. I had prebooked a ride to our accommodation in Sliema so once we got our luggage our driver took us to the hotel. We had opted for some luxury and booked a room with a private jacuzzi at Amery House. After checking in and settling in our room we got some provisions at the nearby Lidl. We decided to test the jacuzzi before heading out to Dinner. It was a relaxing experience albeit a bit hot as the cover had been off the whole day. I had booked dinner at Chophouse and we headed out well in advance. We strolled around Sliema and had a cocktail on the way. For dinner hubby ordered a steak tartare to start and a tuna pasta for his main. I had grilled seabass. We were also served an amuse bouche. The food at Chophouse was tasty and the views from the terrace were lovely.
Excellent food tour
The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel which was very nice and then headed out to Valletta. It took us a while to find the ferry that takes you across from Sliema to Valletta as a new dock was being built but we eventually succeeded. I had booked a food Tour for us in Valletta but we went early so we could look around for a bit before the tour started. We met up with a small group and our guide at the city gate. The guide was very knowledgeable, and the tour was excellent. We got to taste many local delicacies and learned a lot about Malta and its history. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Malta. After the tour finished, we spent a little longer in Valetta walking around and enjoying a drink.
Pizza dinner
Once we returned to Sliema and the hotel we again relaxed in the jacuzzi, which was a lot nicer this time around as we had covered it the night before. After some R&R in the room it was time to head out and look for a place to have dinner. We first tried a tapas place nearby but it was not open so we eventually ended up at a pizza place. We shared a Caprese salad and a Diavola pizza. Both were tasty and made of fresh quality ingredients. After dinner we stopped for one more drink along the waterfront before heading to the hotel to plan the next day.
Thus, our Malta adventure kicked-off, stay tuned for more posts on Malta.
