Microsoft is working on fix for hangups by Windows 10 April 2018 Update

Microsoft is working on a fix for the problems that users of the Chrome browser experience after running the Windows 10 April 2018 Update. Many users complain that their system does not respond at times since the update.

Not only when using Chrome can the system “freeze” but also other apps, where Microsoft explicitly refers to the command to call the assistant Cortana. Microsoft indicates to be familiar with the problems and to strive to have a fix ready at the updating round of 8 May.

Microsoft suggests that in the meantime users can cope with the problems through a detour. Desktop users can use the key combination Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B to make the system responsive. Tablet users can press the volume up and volume down buttons three times within two seconds and laptop users can close their screens and open them again.

Wednesday, Windows 10 users reported the fetters, among other things via Reddit . There are more users who experience problems after they have given their system an update to Windows 10 April 2018. For example, owners of Alienware laptops on TenForums, for example, complain that they get the error message ‘Hybrid laptop with Discrete GPU Connected to Display’. Also the existence of this problem has the attention of Microsoft and Alienware . This occurs with the Alienware 13 R3, 15 R3, 15 R4, 17 R4 and 17 R5.

Microsoft has enabled users since last Tuesday to manually upgrade to Windows 10 April 2018 Update. The developer officially starts the phased rollout from 8 May.
