Does the Yealink W52P DECT Phone do what it says on the tin?
With BT phasing out ISDN phone lines it’s time to have a look at replacement VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) systems and phones and how they can benefit your business. Here’s my review of the Yealink W52P cordless phone and how going wireless fits seamlessly with Switchboardfree.
The Yealink W52P DECT phone
So why consider Yealink phones? There are other brands of DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) phones out there such as Sangoma, Siemens Gigaset, Fanvil and Grandstream – all very good handsets. For a UK based company, part of the appeal is that Yealink is supported by BT so there’s familiarity but also Yealink has a good reputation for quality and performance. So, Yealink it is – but what model? The Yealink W52P? The Yealink T46S? Or the Yealink T42S? There are quite a few model types but I narrowed it down to the W52P for general appeal.

The Yealink W52P key features

Good battery life – up to 10 hours talk time on a full charge and 100 hours standby. Heavy users can top up the charge of the phone at lunchtime and subsequently be ready to go for the rest of the afternoon.
Professional features – with easy navigation. Combines standard DECT phone features e.g. menu, settings and display alongside business features e.g. call waiting, do-not-disturb and contact book. Each handset, if you have more than one, can be programmed independently.
Scalable – connect up to 5 users and of course you can have more than one device. Users can be added at any time so the system can therefore grow with your business.
PoE support – Power over Ethernet. The W52P is integrated with PoE technology meaning electricity is supplied via the ethernet cable. A single cable can provide both the power and data consequently making placement less restrictive.
