Battlefield Earns Respects and The Reason Call of Duty Sucks

While COD is an annualized series, Battlefield is not. Yet once every few years when a new Battlefield emerges, the two massive shooters collide. But this time, the result was a lot different than what you expected!

Simply put, Battlefield 1 destroyed COD Infinite Warfare. Not only in sales, but also in the number of players. COD struggles with the player base, whereas Battlefield 1 is played by around 400,000 people at any given time on all platforms.

Some kudos to Battlefield 1

BF1 also did a very good job at staying away from the futuristic approach. They came with something new, something fun and more exciting than ever before. The idea of adding in some new stuff was great and it did pay off. Sure, BF1 has its problems but it’s Enjoyable and a lot of fun. The problem for COD IW is that it doesn’t really come with anything new. We know everything from either other titles or previous installments. The story in COD IW is arguably a little better than the Battlefield campaign but not that many people purchase these games for the story anyways. So you can imagine that it’s the multiplayer which either makes or breaks the game. In this case, it’s more about breaking unfortunately.

The problem with Call of Duty

COD didn’t really innovate at all. There are a few space maps that I found enjoyable, but even as a casual COD player it was too much of a deja-vu for me and I immediately jumped ship to Battlefield. The new game modes, interesting era and cool weapons make BF1 a lot more interesting and exciting. Plus, you do get that real feel of battle. In the case of COD, the corridor shooter approach just doesn’t pay off. The maps are too small and the gameplay is way too fast. I found myself rage quitting a few times just because the reaction time is less than half a second so you die very fast without having anything to say about it.

There are other options

If you don’t want to play Battlefield or COD this year, you have a replacement. Titanfall 2 is here to offer you a nice Space shooting experience that works amazingly well and which is nothing short of enjoyable. The idea to have titans inside the game is refreshing and it’s also a delight to play this game especially if you love action packed and battle-filled games.

Basically, there are 3 main shooters that you can play at this time. Which one you like the most is up to you, as each one has a different play style. However, a lot of people are disappointed with COD and you can clearly see that via the smaller player base at this time. Does this mean the upcoming COD is in trouble? They might be, if they fail to innovate. But such a thing is great news for gamers, at least gaming companies will listen to consumers when they put out content! Until then, you do have Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 to play through, 2 solid and amazing games with a large player base!
