The Pittsburgh Steelers have locked down their fullback for four more years.
Roosevelt Nix signed a four-year contract extension with the Steelers, the team announced on Saturday.
Nix featured in 15 games for the Steelers in 2017, starting four games. He caught two passes for six yards, but mainly performed as a blocker for running back Le’Veon Bell.
Nix’s first touchdown reception in a Steelers’ shirt came in 2017 against the Houston Texans in Week 16.
He began his NFL career down south, signing with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent. After his release from the team on Aug. 3, 2014, Nix signed with the Steelers on Jan. 9, 2015.
Financial terms of the deal, according to the official Steelers website.
Recently, Nix just made his first Pro Bowl appearance, along with seven other Steelers.
Finney signs one-year contract extension
Nix isn’t the only Steelers player putting pen to a contract paper.
B.J. Finney, a guard and center from Kansas State University, signed a one-year contract extension on Friday.
Finney appeared in 14 games in 2017, starting four games. He has been with the Steelers since May 2, 2015.
“Being here in Pittsburgh one more year is always a plus,” said Finney. “I am excited about it. I love the city, I love playing for the Rooney family, Coach (Mike) Tomlin, and Coach (Mike) Munchak. What is there not to love about it? The city’s diehard fans, always coming to the games. You can’t get a better organization than what the Rooney family has built.”
“Coach Tomlin being a player’s coach, laying everything out,” Finney continued. “Coach Munchak, a Hall of Fame player and one of the best coaches I have played under. What is there not to love?”
“Personally I saw a lot of growth in my play, just from having the experience and building off of it,” said Finney. “The huge growth was a credit to Coach Munchak and the older veterans, like Maurkice Pouncey and Ramon Foster, just bringing me along and helping me develop my game. It’s a huge credit to those guys.”
