A Lone Soldier!
He's from Japan! His mother is Jewish and his father is Japanese! I have never seen this before. I spoke with him in Japanese, remembering a little of the language that I learned when I served in the USMC in Japan in the 1950's.
He is a Lone Soldier! This means that he came here to serve in the Israeli military, but has no immediate family living in the Land.
I asked him why he came. He said to help protect the Jews in Israel.
The first time in my life I ever put tefillin on someone in Japanese!
