Antipolo’s Eggs for Breakfast

I have a love affair with Breakfast places.

Heaven & Eggs (well… its original iteration), Rustic Mornings, Kanto Freestyle, you name it, I’m in love with it. So when I learned that Antipolo has finally joined the all-day breakfast circle, I couldn’t be happier.

It was a rainy/sunny (very confused weather) afternoon when RJ and I decided to take a drive to Villa Cecilia Subdivision for a late lunch in Eggs for Breakfast. Finding the actual restaurant once you’ve stepped out of the car is like discovering the secret garden. Nestled in the middle of a garden setting is this cozy brick house with large window panes, providing a perfect view of the garden and inviting natural light into the restaurant.

The garden feel is also translated inside with the use of grass walls and potted plants. Inside it is peppered with positive quotes, pastels, arts & crafts, and other whimsical decors. The atmosphere is fun and cheerful, yet breathing with an air of sophistication. It’s a perfect date place for morning people. Even on a rainy day, its garden and interiors can quell any trace of sadness. There are no dark clouds in this part of town!

I read online that the restaurant is quite intimate, hence it gets packed quite easily especially on weekends. Good thing when we arrived, there was a table by the window perfect for the two of us.

Following the tip I read online, we ordered their Deconstructed Hash Brown right away, before we sifted through their menu, figuring out where our hearts may lead our tummies.

If there is one word that aptly describes their Hash Brown, it’s COMFORT. This dish has comfort food written all over it. Diced cut roasted potatoes, soft silky eggs, salty bacon bits, aromatic herbs, green bell peppers, and onions tossed in a hot skillet – YUM. It’s flavorful and filling that it could stand on its own as a meal. But of course, that is not the case when it comes to me and RJ. (Read matakaw) This is better than your usual hash brown, in my opinion. Maybe hash browns ought to be deconstructed all the time then. Why not?

Deconstructed Hash Brown (Php110)

RJ and I seemed to moving along the same wavelength that day, as we both ended up ordering similar looking dishes from the menu: Eggs Benedict (ham) and Eggs Benjamin (salmon). I know, I know, blogwise our orders do not show much range in their food artistry and menu, but who cares? We were here to eat according to our hearts’ desires.

Eggs Benedict (Php285)

Eggs Benjamin (Php335)

Lying on a bed of toasted English muffin is this well seasoned salmon/ham, perfectly poached egg, drizzled in creamy, golden, and silky emulsion of egg yolk and liquid butter (hollandaise sauce). Served with greens on the side, their take on these breakfast classics are fantastic. Two thumbs up!

Nothing compares to the excitement of slicing through the poached eggs, finding out if they got the poaching on the dot, letting out a beautiful pool of bright yellow egg yolk. Poached eggs definitely fall under the category of sexy foods, don’t you agree? I do wish their cut on the salmon was a tad bit thicker like that of their ham, but overall, both dishes satisfied us immensely.

Peach Ravioli (Php155)

After indulging in so much egg, we wanted to cleanse our palates with some dessert. There were only two dessert options: Banana Nutella Crepe and Peach Ravioli. We went for the latter out of curiosity. The ravioli thins were crispy, and the piping of cream so soft and tender like pillows of clouds. Perfectly sweet with the slices of peach, cinnamon dusting, and brushes of rhum caramel sauce, paired with cold vanilla ice cream, the serving size was quite small for the price. Wish there was another mini tower of peace ravioli to make it a dessert that’s value for money.

Overall, Eggs for Breakfast is a nice escape from the worries and stresses of Metro Manila. Their food is like a warm hug of good vibes, enveloping you like a comforter on a cold night. =) We will definitely come back again when the going gets tough, just to take a break and indulge in great food.
