A totally random picture taken in February 2007 at Lake Eacham. This is a baby red belly black snake sunning itself right next to a busy walking path. I was there with a freind from Brisbane and was telling her how a few weeks prior i had nearly trod on one at this spot, and she replies very calmly "There's one now".
It was all of a metre away but down a small embankment, so we both managed to snap a few photos with out even disturbing it. The nasturtium leaves beside it give an indication of its size.
