Liam Gallagher: Knebworth 22 recently grabbed headlines last month after Noel Gallagher reportedly “blocked” the documentary from using Oasis songs. It is the brand new feature-length documentary that hit cinemas worldwide on November 17th for a very limited time.
Directed by Toby L, the documentary follows Liam as he returns back to the site of the era-defining Oasis concerts from 1996, to deliver a brand new solo concert full of his unmistakable brand of swagger. It was back in August 1996 that Oasis played two nights at Knebworth Festival, with over a quarter of a million fans descending on a 250-acre site for the sold-out gigs. Liam appeared to say Noel Gallagher turned down an Oasis reunion at Knebworth.
Liam Gallagher was determined to do it
In the opening scenes of the documentary, descending from the skies like a god – albeit in a helicopter rather than on a beam of light – Liam says via Sky:
“I would have never of thought of doing it, because it’s f****** huge and all that. But the fans want it, they wanted it with Oasis, [Noel] obviously doesn’t want to do it, so, they’ll just have to do it with me, and I’ll f****** do it, it’s going to be amazing.”
Meanwhile, Noel Gallagher appears to have let slip when his new album is likely to be released. Gallagher recently returned with a brand new song ‘Pretty Boy’ that features former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.
In an interview with an Italian radio station (via Contactmusic), he revealed when his new album will be out after discussing his football team Manchester City’s form in the current Premier League season.
“The team is doing good, we’re having a good season. Hopefully we will be in Istanbul [for the Champions League final] around when my new album is out next May, so that would be good,” he said.
“I can’t say what the album is called yet, though.”
The original hand-written lyrics of Wonderwall by Oasis star Noel Gallagher has garnered £46,875 at auction after it went under the hammer on Friday. Propstore’s auction is taking place at the Bafta headquarters in Piccadilly, London, that started on November 3 and will run until November 6.
