This Is The Biggest Gathering Of Minis In The World

If you are the sorts who has lately been quite annoyed by the crash and brash of V8 and V12 engined supercars and are looking forward to see the chill and coo-chi-coo of small classic hatchbacks, then the London to Brighton Mini run is the perfect place to be. Like every year, this year’s run took place on the third Sunday or May, celebrating the 32nd anniversary of the car event. In 2009, the London to Brighton Mini run broke the world record for the longest convoy of Minis, where a total of 1,450 cars had taken part. According to some, the event is believed to be the world’s largest one make car show, attracting more than 2,500 Minis from every corner of United Kingdom and Europe.

Our friend Will Nicholson who you’d remember as the designer who’s created the minimal yet elegant Honda CX500 cafe racer, was there to attend this year’s London to Brighton Mini run, where he captured the action in the best way he could. According to Will, this year’s event had more than 3000 Minis parked in the designated venue, while there were more cars that were parked off site, since the organisers ran out of space. In the mix, one could find everything from the original Mini to the latest not-so-mini BMW Mini. These Minis came in all forms, shapes and sizes from ones with Honda Civic VTEC engines and Vauxhall red tops, to rat/Euro style cars and lifted 4×4 ones that look like AT-AT walkers with large off-road wheels.
