I am done with Twitter. Here is why.

I disconnected my twitter feed about a week ago. I finally lost patience with Management that doesn’t care about its users, or what they are doing. Specifically I read an article in which Twitter management said they were trying to craft terms of use that were fair and protect their users. How long has Twitter existed and it can’t do this?

More specifically, I have never found Twitter to be useful. People tend to connect with others with the same opinions. I haven’t had much interaction there, so it isn’t a Community that really motivates me to use it. I only had a bot tweeting, and since most other tweets are bots, it wasn’t friendly.

I have joined a different community however which is much nicer. It is called DeviantArt, and it is where I am showing my art. Hopefully someone likes it enough to buy. I have found some beautiful artists there, and when I get someone who buys something of mine, I will reinvest it and buy someone else’s artwork as well. I may buy a few things as well, I am just looking over different things to decide what I like the best.

The DA community instantly interacted with me, and was warm and friendly. I had featured art from there on my website before, and so it wasn’t foreign to me. I especially liked how they would allow you to show your art and not charge you a fee. Of course, you can pay $50 a year to have more features, and I might do that. I don’t mind supporting communities that do things for me. In one sense it feels like a vanity art place. Where you pay to have your work displayed. That was never my intention. I want to share my art because it resonates with people, and it makes their life better

In that, I have already been successful. I had the nice experience of having someone see art in my home they liked. When I gave it to them, they thanked me and said that it made their day better. Sometimes it takes something small to improve someones life. We should feel lucky that we can improve the world, even a little bit.
