Thoughts about the author of “Inner Tech”, Dan Thomas

It is not very often that an author’s words really touch something deep in my soul. I read constantly. Much of it consists of research papers and history texts particularly related to blades and metalworking, and the occasional work of fiction, usually a STAR WARS novel, but every once in a while I come across something that is different. For many years I poured over works written about philosophy and religion, having an ardent interest in the nature of reality and the human mind. About two years ago I read a book that is so profoundly different than anything I have read previously that I began seeking out other works by this same author.

The book was “Inner Tech” and the author is Dan Thomas. “Inner Tech” is a difficult book to classify. The initial impression is that of a science fiction novel, but upon further scrutiny a much deeper work emerges. Spiritual philosophy might come close, but not exactly. I have read it three times now and each time I find different elements to be revealing themselves. It is a complex work not for the flippant or superficial.

Since that work I have read his second book titled “Contemplations”. “Contemplations” is of a totally different format but I view it as being a supplement to “Inner Tech”. It is an original collection of canny wisdom and common sense related to the nature of reality and the challenge of being human. I turn to it often for inspiration or when I need to be reminded that life is something to be appreciated and explored.

He’s on Facebook as Dan Thomas-Author and he’s got a website at www.aeta2earth.com.  I highly recommend purchasing his books. You can get them at amazon.com.

To top it off this guy writes some of the most sublime, heart-felt, and deeply moving poetry it has ever been my privilege to read. It is a little known secret (well not now I guess) that I have a passion for fine poetry. Rather than try to explain it I will simply let his words demonstrate. I contacted Dan Thomas and asked, and received, his permission to post three of his works of poetry here.

-Sweet Serenity-

Ease comes to the ailing heart,
When time has passed – no longer apart.
A tender smile is drawn in thought,
Then a shy reflection on the face is caught.
Breathing deep in love’s kind grace;
A warmth in soul holds in place
A longing filled to all eternity,
Felt so deep in sweet serenity.

Whispered words like breath on wind,
Pass the lips between dear friends.
Talking low, but hearing true,
To heart this message said only for you:
From all I have in great affection,
I give, with care, my pure attention;
A bond, a kiss, forever more;
A faith, a joy, an open door.

Now hold so tight, and draw so near;
Peace and comfort – made so clear.
A tender touch, a true divinity;
Together is found that sweet serenity.

-The High & The Low-

Standing on the edge between mountain and abyss
The people of the world were not ready for this

Caught in the web of cell phones and transhumanism
Straddling freedom with corporate feudalism

Say all is love with an empty mind
Or banish the heart for what science can find

Flip on a switch and be numbed by the violence
Speak of morals and be deafened by silence

Believe all that matters is a smiling face
While ethics and standards become a disgrace

Turn with fear to a pre-made solution
Patterns of past combine with dissolution

Anger is normal and adjoins a prescription
Avert with denial from this pale description

Yet when hope and faith are all that remains
What more can one do but pull at the chains

Fight with one hand and hold open the other
Dream when humanity shall come now together

Weather night’s storm until light of the day
Be serious first until then you can play

Cherish the moment and be resolute in will
Cry for relief when the world becomes still

Acknowledge what is but focus on what’s right
Maintain your endurance on a path that is bright

Think it through and then feel with the soul
It’s not about you, it’s about finding the whole

Highs and lows can pass at a glance
So listen my friends and don’t lose our chance

-The Lonely Soul-

I pour out my heart on a page of narrow lines
Bearing feelings both deep and sincere
Thoughts and emotions so profound from within
Suddenly tepid when there’s no one to hear

Love and hope seem to have little value
In a world craving only for entertainment
Scribbling and prose that strive so beyond
Go sadly with tears of abandonment

Seen as the shadow of an invisible man
And heard only as the echo of silence
Such a serious fellow is of little attraction
For women who care not of his valiance

Long days of dream and nights of forlorn
For no hand will grace this shoulder
Comfort not found in jokes of sensuality
When all that I wish is to hold her

Am I a fool to reveal with such blatant honesty
The longing of a virgin heart?
Does it make of me the poor old mockery
Of those who found it at start?

Yet what do I care of the remarks of others
When a smile must be drawn from a hole
I find there’s nothing to lose … no fear, no pride
To stop this voice of my lonely soul
