Refuse to Sink!

I’ve wanted to make an Anchor themed mixed media piece featuring an ArtEmboss anchor for a long time, and I simply love the sentiment…”Refuse to Sink”.

I used the same technique on the 10 x 10 canvas as in my post “Painting with Tissue Paper #2”.  I printed out an image of a gold anchor pendant and sized it to 6 inches.  That became the pattern to trace an ArtEmboss anchor.  After that was attached with hot glue, I used E6000 to apply a chain bracelet. All that was left to do was make Scrabble letters for the saying.

I don’t know a lot about anchors, so I Googled “when to use a ship anchor” and I found this good advice from sailingbritican.com.  The article actually covers “8 Steps to Anchoring In a Storm” but 4 of the steps were enough for my post today.

Eight  Four Steps To Anchoring In A Storm

So, what do you do if a storm is on its way and you’re anchored in a harbor? Anchoring in a storm or in high winds is part of the sailing lifestyle. Many storms arrive unannounced and others, although predicted, can turn out to be worse than expected.

1. Analyze your surroundings

2. Dive on your anchor. (Visually check it)

3. Let out enough scope (rope or chain)

4.  Have anchor faith

When we face the storms of life, if you are a Christian you have found a harbor! The sailing advice suggests “Analyze your surroundings.” That is the time to LOOK UP to the Lord knowing He is in control and it is our job to stay anchored.

#2.  “Dive on your anchor”, which means you dive down in the water to visually check it.  Our anchor is the Bible, we need to dive into the Word and confirm the promises and make sure our Faith is strong and unmoveable.

#3. “Let out enough scope” (that is rope or chain) Our faith is the scope.  Sometimes faith has to stretch.  Sometimes your faith has to be patient because time passes and NOTHING has happened YET.

#4. “Have anchor faith”.  You will be miserable going through a storm if you don’t have faith that you have the best anchor and your boat will be lost.  The same thing is true of weathering the storms of life, you need to have faith the Lord will bring you through!!!

“We have this hope (God’s promises)  as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It … This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls.  Hebrews 6:19
