I got to know Liv, the main character and zombie star of the show, during season 1 of Izombie and fell in love with her. Now I am a big fan of zombies and supernatural but even if you aren’t, Liv isn’t a typical zombie. She had it all, a promising medical career, the dream fiancé and everything going for her. Until one night she goes out with some co-workers and ends up a zombie.

Liv isn’t the typical shambling, dirty, rip your body parts off zombie. She is the same as before for the most part except paler and with a taste for brains—preferably with hot sauce. She finds a job in a morgue and it turns out that when she eats the brains of the deceased she channels some of their memories and skills. Since often the corpses on an autopsy table haven’t died of natural causes, Liv ends up helping the police solve crimes.

While the first season was fun, the second season is much better. There were days in the first where Liv was still coming to grips with her new life and a wee bit depressed. Season 2 keeps you hopping.

Liv is her sarcastic self, but since she is always picking up new traits from her “dinner” it keeps her character constantly changing. Her ex-fiancé and love, Major, is thrown for a loop when he finds out the true reason Liv left him but they are slowly rekindling that romance. Her boss and confidant, Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti is working on a cure for her condition.

Without giving any spoilers, I can say that you will be surprised by the unlikely alliances that are formed. The lines between good and evil get a little blurry. The living and the dead will struggle with decisions and Liv continues to do her best to help solve crimes and feel her way through her reality.

If you are looking for a TV series that is just a bit different from the norm, funny and that keeps you guessing, pick up a copy of iZombie: The Complete Second Season today.
