Costco Twice Baked Potatoes – Reser’s

Costco Twice Baked Potatoes - Are They Worth It?

Reser's Main St Twice Baked Potatoes at Costco

Costco sells 4 Steakhouse Twice Baked Potatoes for $9.99. The twice-baked potatoes can be found in Costco’s deli area of the warehouse near other items such as the quichetortilla soup, and the healthy noodles

The twice-baked potatoes are made with real cheese and have no artificial colors or preservatives.

Each potato with toppings will weigh approximately half a pound, and the total package will weigh 2 pounds.

What's In These Twice-Baked Potatoes?

Twice baked potatoes are made by baking them, scooping out the potato insides and mixing it with other ingredients, and then putting it back on the potato and baking again.

The end result is super crispy potato skin with a creamy inside filling.

The Reser’s Twice Baked Potatoes from Costco are fully baked and fully loaded with real sour cream, butter, sharp cheddar cheese, bacon, and chives.

This is a classic version of twice baked potatoes.

The Reser's Main St Bistro Brand

Reser’s sells a few different potato side dishes at Costco, such as mashed potatoesscalloped potatoes, and potato salad. I’ve tried a few of Reser’s dishes in the past, and they have been hit or miss!

How Much Do They Twiced Baked Potatoes Cost At Costco?

Costco’s 4 count of twice baked Potatoes sells for $9.99 or $2.50 per baked potato. I purchased these at retail price, and a few days later, I noticed they were on sale for $7.99 or $2.00 off.

I’m a little bummed I missed the sale, as it would be like getting one potato almost for free.

Uncooked Twice Baked Potato

The $2.50 price tag for each twice baked potato is fair but a little expensive. A lot of work is needed to make the potatoes from scratch, but the ingredients are fairly cheap.

Costco Vs. The Competition.

Sam’s Club sells their Member’s Mark prepared meal Gourmet Twice Baked Potatoes for $3.68 a pound.

This is almost $1.50 less per pound than Costco’s premade version, so Sam’s Club offers the better value here.

Twice Baked Potatoes - Taste Test

I air fried these twice baked potatoes, and surprisingly, they impressed me. They aren’t gourmet, and do have some minor flaws, but they are good and better than I expected them to be.

The potato skin was not as crispy as I would have liked and was slightly hard and dry.

The bottom layer of potato that did not get scooped out was a chore to eat at some points but was tolerable when mixed with the creamy potato portion.

The potato filling was much more moist and creamy than I expected and had a strong but enjoyable sour cream taste.

The real cheddar cheese flavor was very present, and the bacon bits were an excellent addition. I much more enjoyed the flavorful top portion of the potato than the bottom layer.

Bottom Portion is Visibly Dry

The twice baked potatoes as a whole didn’t wow me, but I didn’t mind eating them. I wouldn’t serve them to guests; they were good enough to finish but not worth buying again.

How to Cook Costco's Twice Baked Potatoes

Reser’s offers two cooking methods for their twice-baked potatoes. They can be microwaved or baked again in the oven. If you choose the oven method, it would make them thrice-baked potatoes instead, which is 50% better than twice-baked potatoes.

I also include my air fryer cooking instructions for these twice baked potatoes that are faster and more energy efficient.

Microwave Instructions

  1. Remove the tray from the package and remove the film.
  2. Heat on high for 7-8 minutes or until hot. If the microwave can’t rotate, heat it for 4 minutes and turn the tray ½ turn and heat an additional 3-4 minutes.
  3. Let it stand for 1 minute before serving. Microwave ovens vary; adjust heating times as needed.

Caution: Product and package will be hot.

Oven Heating Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F.
  2. Remove the tray from the package and remove the film.
  3. Place the container on a baking tray and heat in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until hot.

Caution: Product and package will be hot. Do not prepare Costco twice baked potatoes in a toaster oven. Do Not Broil.

Twice Baked Potatoes Air Fryer Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 300°F.
  2. Remove twice baked potatoes from the tray.
  3. Place the baked potatoes in the air fryer and heat for 15-17 minutes or until hot.

DIY Twice Baked Potatoes

These Reser’s twice baked potatoes are super easy to make in either the air fryer or the oven, but if you want to save some money and customize your baked potatoes at the same time, you can use this recipe from Carlsbadcravings.com.

Costco Twice Baked Potatoes Nutritional Information and Calories

One serving of twice baked potatoes will be one potato and have the following nutritional information:

  • Calories: 340
  • Total Fat: 17g (22% DV)
  • Cholesterol: 50mg (17% DV)
  • Sodium 820mg (36% DV)
  • Total Carbohydrates: 38g (14% DV)
  • Dietary Fiber: 4g (14% DV)
  • Total Sugars: 3g
  • Protein: 10g

This is a relatively standard nutritional profile for twice baked potatoes. The carbs will be on the higher end because of the potatoes, and there will be a moderate amount of fat and protein.

It’s not healthy by any means, but it also doesn’t try to or pretend to be a healthy option.

Moderate Sodium

My biggest concern is the 820 mg (36% of recommended daily value) of sodium per serving. The potatoes are more of a side dish rather than an entree, which means you may be eating this with other foods that have sodium.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the entire meal when combined with a protein would total over 50% of the recommended daily value of sodium.
