It’s February, which is of course, Valentine’s month, and whether you’re thinking about a honeymoon, special anniversary, or simply a Romantic getaway, there are many destinations that can provide the perfect Vacation for you and your sweetheart. Romance on vacation can be found on a sunny tropical island, a remote mountain resort, or even on a trip filled with theme park thrills. It’s all a matter of what is perfect for you and your love.
A Caribbean Paradise
Mention “romance on vacation” and for most people, the image of turquoise waters, luxurious pools, and hammocks for two immediately come to mind. And for good reason, because the Caribbean was seemingly made for leisurely visits for couples to relax and enjoy the sun and sand (along with those popular fruity drinks). Among the islands of the Caribbean and Bahamas, those who are looking for a romantic vacation in paradise will find hundreds of options – many of which are all-inclusive. Of course, every island has its own “personality” as do the resorts themselves, so it’s super important to work with your travel agent to find the right resort and island for you. (It’s not all about cost here either, as you want to look at what is included in your vacation package – because “all-inclusive” means different things at different resorts!)
Of course, a Caribbean vacation can be more than just laying around the pool or by the sea (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Many resorts offer a wide variety of both land and water sports to their guests, along with evening entertainment. Of course, there’s lots of fine dining as well. And If you think that you have to be in your 20’s to enjoy a romantic Caribbean vacation, think again as you’ll find couples of all ages at your resort. In fact, the Caribbean is a popular destination for those who are celebrating special anniversaries and can be the perfect location to “retie the knot” as the Sandals resorts call their special anniversary ceremonies and packages.
A Mountain Getaway
So, sun and sand aren’t your thing and you and your sweetheart are more “mountain-lovers”? You’ve got lots of options here as well, with many lovely and luxurious mountain retreats throughout the U.S. From 5-star spa resorts, to smaller luxury hotels and inns, and even private cabins, your choices for a romantic mountain getaway are many. If you both love skiing and are looking to travel during the winter or early spring months, you’ll find a number of fabulous options, in the ski areas of both the eastern and western U.S. More than a few of these resorts will actually offer special “romance” vacation packages, that may include things like champagne and chocolates, private candlelight dinners, and spa appointments. Of course, a romantic mountain vacation doesn’t have to just be in the winter or include skiing. The mountains offer lovely scenery no matter the season (although if you are looking to travel in the fall, be sure to book early because EVERYONE wants to see the glorious fall foliage in the mountains!) As in the Caribbean, there will be many activities to enjoy, including things like hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and maybe even ziplining for those adventurous couples. And in the evening, not many things are more romantic than sitting by a roaring fire, and enjoying a starlit night.
A Thrilling Theme Park Vacation
While the popular consensus is that theme park destinations like Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort are for kids, the reality is that both are extremely popular for adults-only vacations and in fact, are frequently the locations chosen for weddings, honeymoons, and special anniversary trips. Now of course, if you are looking for peace, quiet, and no children on your romantic getaway, then clearly this is not the trip for you! But, if you want to balance having tons of fun with more than a few special “adult” activities, then it may be that the perfect vacation for you and your love may very well be a place like the Walt Disney World Resort!
Still not convinced? Let’s start with the hotel. Both the Disney and Universal resort properties offer some truly luxurious deluxe hotels that will make you feel pampered from the minute you arrive. Spacious rooms with tons of special touches and fabulous pools, along with way more fine dining options than you might expect. In fact, Walt Disney World especially has several 5-star gourmet restaurants that will satisfy any couple that enjoys special cuisine. And the deluxe hotels all feature some incredible theming that are perfect for a romantic walk, enjoying beautiful grounds, ponds, lakes, and fascinating details.
Of course, yes you’ve got some fun theme parks. But surprisingly, you may find lots of ways to find special romantic moments here too, with more fabulous dining (Epcot is a special favorite here, for it’s numerous and varied, restaurants in addition to several incredible festivals throughout the year), and some surprising “off-the-beaten-paths” to explore. And of course, for the couple that are truly kids at heart, there’s plenty of fun rides and attractions that are guaranteed to make you both smile your way through your vacation.
Romance is different for every couple, but whatever you enjoy doing together, there’s a wonderful place for you to share a romantic vacation together – whether it’s for a honeymoon, anniversary, or “just because”!
