Keep on reading to learn more!

Weird Interview Questions

Don’t worry, your prospective employer won’t likely ask you about whether or not you’ve bought drug tests in bulk or other, similar questions.

Still, there are a number of not-too-uncommon odd questions someone might get asked on a job interview. Here are 5 of them:

1. If You Could Choose a Superpower, What Would It Be and Why?

When many first get this odd job interview question, it takes them off-guard. After all, most people consider their superhero interests (or lack thereof) completely separate from their careers.

Yet, recruiters have begun using this question with increasing regularity. But what exactly does it measure? And how do you answer it?

This question gives your potential future employer insight into a few things about you. They know it’s a bit of a curveball, but they want to know how well you think on your feet and adapt.

It also demonstrates your creativity.

All of these attributes are extremely important to employers, even if you’re going for a more analytical career. Every job has unexpected situations crop up from time to time, and employers want to know how well you can adapt.

Since recruiters look for creativity with the question, get creative! Make your appropriate for a professional setting, but let your own personality and sense of humor shine through.

2. What Would You Do If You Found Out You Won the Lottery After This Interview?

Most people aren’t thinking about the lottery when they’re interviewing for jobs. In fact, people often enter the workforce because they need money.

But that’s precisely why employers ask this question. What they’re really trying to determine is what, other than the paycheck, will motivate you to come to work every day.

To prepare, know what you genuinely find compelling about the job or company. Even if you really think it sounds boring, find something about the business you admire or believe in and talk about that.

3. How Many Square Feet of Pizza Does the U.S. Consume Each Year?

Even when it comes to Weird interview questions, this one is on the more eyebrow-raising side. Still, Goldman Sachs asked this question when they interviewed people for a program analyst position.

What does this question accomplish?

When employers ask this, they’re not looking for the correct answer. Instead, they want to see your reasoning skills and gauge how you react to difficult questions.

When answering this, remain as calm and rational as you can. Focus more on your logic and overall demeanor than getting it right.

4. What’s the Color of Money?

Many people might reflexively answer “green,” but that wouldn’t be the best answer here.

This question really measures your awareness of the world around you as a whole. Many companies look for people with an international mindset so that their brand can expand across the globe.

Different areas of the world have different colored money. The proper answer to this, then, would be, “It depends on where you are.”

5. What Color Would You Be and Why?

When employers ask you questions pertaining to choosing a color, what they really want to know is something about your personality.

Because of this, you want to choose carefully. Select a color that both portrays you in a positive light but also reflects some of your best professional qualities. For instance, choosing warmer tones indicates friendliness, but red could come across as hotheaded.

A light blue, on the other hand, communicates a more professional demeanor but also someone who is full of joy and optimism.
