Huge gaming chance in Bengaluru: UK Minister

The opportunity for Gaming and immersive technologies is tremendous in Bengaluru, according to a top UK official.

“I think the opportunity for gaming and immersive technologies is huge — and Bengaluru is at the centre of it,” UKs Trade Minister Rona Fairhead, said in an exclusive interview to DH.

Incidentally, Karnataka became the first and the only state in India to come out with an official Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) policy in August last year.

As part of her visit to India, Rona oversaw the signing of the deals worth whopping £58 million (approximately Rs 518 crore) on Tuesday.

She has been in India for a three-day India—UK Createch Summit. The first leg of the Summit took place in Mumbai on Tuesday, followed by second leg in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The summit is aimed at exploring how the technology and creative industries are converging to produce a new wave of innovation which is leading to the development of new products and businesses.

She also said that after her visit to India, she is hopeful of accelerated collaboration between India and UK in coming days.

Brexit uncertainity

Rona confessed that there is a degree of business uncertainty associated with much awaited Brexit, but assured everything will be fine with time.

“Yes there is certain degree of uncertainty. But, I think that we are still continuing to see rise of investments into UK over the time,” Rona said.
