In His own Words by Henry Ford - book summary

Ford was a great mind of our time.

He invented the model T, the first affordable automobile in history.

Hearing him in this book "in his own words", you cannot help but to start understanding that he just believed in himself, and knew what he wanted from the start.

There was a time he understood he was lacking knowledge in the electrical department, so he went to work for someone in order to learn more about the subject. When he was done, he went back to work on his project.

With great work ethics, Ford, worked night and day in his project. His wife supported him, even though not quite understanding what he was doing. When the time cam, he went to the race track and completely decimated the competition, lining up investors to fund his project.

Car manufacturers already existed, but back the cars were toys for people that had a lot of money.

He wanted everyone in the world to have a car so they could move themselves. That means no "colab."

This is one of the most important points in this book. Ford said: "The idea that has the worlds interests before the individual, in the end will always prevail".

Being a mechanic, Ford saw the world as a machine. There are cause effect relationships on everything you do. You do things a certain way, you get a certain outcome. You do things in another way you get another outcome.

People struggle in life because they don't know their passion. Or even worse, if they do, they don't do anything about it.

On a scale of 1-10 if you are operating at a 4 or in that order, that means you are unmotivated in what you are doing. That means you are not contributing to society or better said, society is not benefiting from what you are doing, because you don't like what you are doing.

When you find your passion, what you love to do the most, you become completely engaged, completely immersed, and what ends up happening is, you develop mastery of your craft due to the tremendous amount of effort, commitment and passion in what you are doing. That is a 10.

When you are operating in this way, people around you feel that. They start resonating towards that, because everyone is thirsty for a vision. You've heard me say countless times. "Economies are made of businesses. Businesses are made of people. We are in the people's business". So, when you work in this ways, the business you are working on, people notice and the business starts to flourish and prosper.

In the end, the Economy will benefit because the business has an engine behind it: you.

Ford also referenced the pathway to being broke. Do you know what that is? Being selfish.

A component in an engine doesn't work by itself. It has no use if it is not connected to the engine.

You have to find our place in life, because life will give you everything you want when you find your passion.

Being a component that is ether malfunctioning or not working at all will be your doom.

Russel Simmons said: "Be still. Let the river flow."

People need a lot of things. You have to engage the world in a way that you can provide help.

There are several vehicles that can help you monetizing your passion, but you have to lock in.

In his book: "One hundred minds that made the market" Kevin Fisher references in between biographies that: "a lack of passion, consistency and focus will be the doom of any individual".

Finishing with Ford again:

"Whether you think you can or can't you are right".

Be great. Nothing else pays.
