One of the ways that the National Park Foundation (official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service) honors the “leave no trace” principles is by encouraging park goers to take only memories and photos and always keep safety in the picture.
Respecting this philosophy helps ensure that our national parks, both natural and cultural treasures, can be enjoyed by current park lovers and all those who will come after. And, it helps ensure visitor safety too.
National Park Foundation Photo Contests
This World Photography Day (August 19th), the National Park Foundation is inviting amateur photographers to submit their national park shots for two photo contests: Share the Experience and Wonder + Wander.
Open now through December 31st, the Share the Experience photo contest is an annual competition encouraging all amateur photographers to submit their favorite views, moments, and adventures from America’s national parks and public lands – with a grand prize of $10,000.
Union Pacific Railroad Wonder + Wander Photo Challenge
The Wonder + Wander Photo Challenge, presented by Union Pacific Railroad and the National Park Foundation, is an opportunity to recreate a vintage park photo to show that exploring and enjoying America’s national parks is timeless. Winners will be chosen monthly through September 2nd and will receive a National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass. The annual pass is your ticket to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites for one full year. It’s the ultimate tool to help you find your park!
