Yah, tell me about it. I was like that (too) a while ago when I had no idea how to sell.

Seriously, what do you mean, Vladi, you ask?

let me lean a little bit to the financial world for the example, since I’ve slowly been transitioning to it the last couple of years (I’ve been on and off all my life, but now I have the Money to really do it)… which is why I’ve been blogging a little less (maybe a lot less) than usual.

Bitcoin is the new shit that kicks ass (don’t get too excited, it’s just another derivative for little people’s money predation since the overall trade volume had declined by about 50% after all the bubbles, the crisis, HFT firms scandals, big banks scandals (and their dark pools) and shit like that… maybe I’ll tell you about it some other time), but it’s still promoted just like every other hot derivative – like the new shit that is going to make you stupid rich, and also change the world…

…kinda like a MLM – they all have revolutionary products that always change the world and make everybody rich LOL.

Why?

Because people will always be after easy, or free, money.

This might not be the best example, but I’m sure it paints the picture.

So, what Marketing hacks are working right now?

1 Go simple

Simple wins all the time.

I’ll write a 20 word, plain template, email and still get more people excited than one of those fancy emails with all the bells and whistles that I see have been gaining traction.

Get it?

Maybe not, I’ve been told I’m not a good explainer even though I’ve created a blog that gets 100,000 visits/month, and get fan mail about it all the time.

See what I did here?

I indirectly promoted me and my blog… which leads us the second marketing hack.

2 Promote indirectly (or whatever the term is)

Selling is not that hard if you manage to not look like a sleazy salesman.

I know you want to get rich as fast as possible, but you won’t get there if you chase people… you have to make them come to you.

I chose to create a blog.

You can think about what would work for you and go for it.

You have to become famous and then sell and not vise versa.

3 Create a fancy word and use it to sell

Like Inbound Marketing, or blockchain etc.

Give your word meaning like Hubspot did with inbound marketing.

Inbound marketing means:

Inbound marketing is a technique for drawing customers to products and services via content marketing, social media marketing, search engine optimization and branding.

Wikipedia

…or also known as just, you know, marketing LOL.

Hubspot invented that term and it made them fucking famous, also made them the leading experts on the topic.

Another example is blockchain.

It’s been all the rage the recent years… although it’s nothing that new, or revolutionary, when tied to a “surefire” way to make shit loads of money (a.k.a bitcoin and other coins) – wooah wooah we woooah as Borat says LOL.

On the other hand, quantum computing is both but not that hot.

See what I mean?

Good.

Moving on.

4 Use an already hot word.

Again, like blockchain.

If you don’t have the resource, just use something that is already hot.

Like that soda company – Long Island tea or something.

You could embroider blockchain on your back and get a few people interested in you LOL.

And people say marketing is hard, nothing like it… you just have to roll with what’s hot in the moment (or create it).
