CAREY-Ann Lordan is the owner of Red PR, an Irish PR, Marketing and Event Management company, established in 2010. Carey-Ann and her team manage client accounts across a diversity of sectors, including sport, service, hospitality and retail, from their headquarters in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland.

Carey-Ann’s calling cards include adaptability and momentum, traits instilled at an early age. The eldest of six children, she grew up helping in the grocery business owned by parents John and Siobhan. Early exposure to the juggling of business commitments with a large household has led to her commitment to maximum value and effectiveness for her diverse clientele, and her pursuit of harmonious work-life balance.

It’s telling that her role models include her parents — a “huge inspiration… they’ve always been positive… even when there have been bumps along the road”—and Margaret Heffernan, who took the Irish retail chain Dunnes Stores to new levels of profitability in the 1990s : “a formidable operator”, in Carey-Ann’s opinion.

Always on the go—“My phone comes everywhere. It’s got my diaries, my email, all my apps… whether I’m going for a walk, going on holidays, going to the loo, going to Mass,” she admits—Carey-Ann balances her hectic work life with marriage to her husband, Wayne, one of Ireland’s top professional flat jockeys. Her chief satisfactions include the completion of her first children’s book, to be published in early 2017, and the continued growth of her Red PR client base.

She is excited about marketing and communication, from client engagement with Facebook, Twitter and, increasingly, Instagram, to Pinterest, which she describes as her “guilty pleasure”, and admits to being an inveterate builder of boards and collector of Pins.

Carey-Ann spoke to AGENT about Red PR, her early exposure to the entrepreneurial spirit in her parents’ businesses, striking a balance between business and home, and shared the advice she would pass on to her younger self if she were starting out in business today.
