Why do we need Cyber Security?

In early 1990’s when computers and internet came in, hacking was done basically to get more information of the system, later due to compete between hackers many networks were affected. Initially these attacks did not show any long term threat about later these attacks resulted in making networks and systems slow.

Cyber crimes have become a real threat today as it can be committed single handed and does not require the physical presence of the criminals. These crimes can be done from a remote location.  As the Cyber criminals find it easy to earn money without having to work the whole day, they use their expertise to steal and exploit people.

Over the past few years, we have witnessed many Cyber security issues which left behind a frightening situation for the people. Cyber Attacks have become nonstop headline news. Hackers can directly march into your Computer/network; He can gain access to your confidential information such as bank accounts or credit cards etc. It has also become so easy for cyber criminals to steal information from computers of not only from individuals but for companies, banks and other organizations also.

Cyber Security need in future:

As people rely more on technology to help manage their daily lives, the threat of cyber crime continues to escalate. Cyber security risks are a constantly evolving threat to an organization to achieve its objective and deliver its core functions.

Does small business is required to think about security attacks? Recent surveys have wiped away the assumption that only big organizations will have impact from cyber attack, cyber attacks against small businesses have rapidly increased. Start up companies are at high risk as hackers targeted the private information these companies consist of which they want to sell to dark markets. Due to budget limitations and unavailability of skilled resources, start-up companies are victims of cyber attacks.

Where are we lagging?:

Every minute we see a half a million attack attempts that are happening in cyber space. If once we come across all the cyber attacks on various organizations, then there we can see a picture where we lag?

Mainly we don’t have efficiently skilled persons to stop the cyber attacks or identify the attack at the earlier stage. One way to fight cyber crime is to effectively educate the public through cyber security awareness campaigns. Cyber attacks pose a threat to everyone not just organizations.

To educate public about cyber security will help them to protect their personal information from cyber thieves. Set strong passwords and don’t share with anyone. Be cautious about opening links or attachments as they may contain malware. If an Email looks suspicious don’t open it.

IOT contribution for insecurity:

Million people are using internet to transmit the data between the devices.  The Internet of Things (IoT) brought major changes in digital world as IoT devices provide multiple benefits like decision making, cost reduction, Secured Safety; Privacy will play main role in IoT devices.

The vulnerabilities in these devices may provide opportunities to hackers to grab the personal information and misuse it. The Internet of Things needs various changes and approaches from cyber security to protect from these attacks successfully.

The hackers from various countries have been trying to penetrate into other countries networks and computers to steal the sensitive information. The number of warfare operations through cyberspace has been increased rapidly day by day. Awareness have been created that these cyber war attacks through cyberspace is a threat that may lead to danger for people and solidity of government.

War between two countries in future:

Many governments opt for these cyber attacks as it reduces costs and cyber weapons cannot be identified easily but result in vast disaster. The countries should be ready for the challenges to face in the future by these cyber attacks. Wars between countries would happen in internet by hacking or destroying others high secured data.

As we develop new technologies day by day, hackers also identifying new ways to crack the new technologies within no time.  Also data should be classified based on priority and security measures should be provided accordingly to avoid the intensity of cyber attacks.
