Serena Williams looks to kick-start season in Madrid

The number one worldwide, Serena Williams will head to the WTA Madrid open this week as usual as she searches for her first tournament of the season.

Serena, who is famously known to be the 21-times Grand Slam champion has decided to limit her schedule to  for this season to just three tournaments despite the fact that she missed had out the final of both the Indians Wells and the Australian Open before she crushed out at the fourth round of the Miami Open which took place last month.

Instead, this week, Serena has been boosting her profile off the court while she stares alongside Beyoncé in the pop superstar’s visual album.

However, there is a stiff competition being faced by the two-times winner in Madrid just from a wide open field of her return to action despite the absence in 2014 champion who is identified and recognized as Maria Sarapoya after she had admitted that she had failed the drug test in Australia Open.

After the Australian Open, Serena’s conqueror Angelique Kerber is said to be in fine form after she backed up her first Grand Slam by working smart to retain her title on the indoor clay of Stuttgart in the event which took place last week.

The German is now seriously looking to build on her positive and perfect start to the European clay court season in both Rome and Madrid before the French open which will hopefully take place comes next month.

“I know I can play well on clay,” said Kerber. “This is the attitude I’ll take to Paris.”
