The Top Strategy I Use To Grow My Facebook Group

So, as you know, this blog is here to show you my journey to seven figures, not a “guru” blog trying to sell you on the next big e-book.

There is nothing wrong with the “been there, done that” guy, but before I really got into blogging, I noticed that I preferred to read blogs that not only taught the “how-to’s” after the 100,000 Facebook likes and email lists, but also showed the growth and strategies on the way there.

It seemed more real to me.

I connected with the authors because I saw the mistakes they made.

I grew with them.

When you see someone on stage, receiving the awards, talking about their books, it’s easy to think that they’re so much better than you.

It’s easy to think that it probably won’t happen to you.

So, when I realized this, I said “hell no.

I wanted to, in a creative way, show you that it’s not always sunshines and rainbows(via Rocky).

I wanted to show you that the people who get in this go through dark moments too.

April was a shitty month for me all around, really.

We had the biggest dip we’ve had so far in income earned and it seemed that every strategy we tested to collect emails was failing.

We had plateaued.

Hey, it happens.  We got through it, and now we are movin’ forward.

One thing that we have been trying to focus on is growing our online Facebook Community.

Facebook groups are all the roar right now.  If you’re somebody, you’re running one.  If you’re nobody you’re running one(and maybe even charging for it).

While I don’t believe in charging an entry fee to a Facebook group, I do believe that they are a HUGE part of the process of creating a community.

What better way to reach your readers than in a private community that you create for them in the setting that they are in most of the day.

After all, Business Insider said that the average American spends 20+ minutes per day on Facebook.

You want to be where your audience lives, and I guarantee they are on Facebook because well, everyone is.

So, it only makes sense to start a Facebook group.

Now, creating the group is the easy part.  It’s getting people to join that can be pretty tough.

But there is something that I found that has been working well for me and is bringing people in pretty steadily based on my numbers.

If you follow my Income Reports at all, you’ll see that I have been pushing for 1000 likes on my like page for a minute.

I have not used it in my Facebook Ads budget much, and I refuse to buy fake likes to create a perception.

I am doing this organically for the sake of my readers learning how the “average” person does it and seeing what real growth looks like.

So, as you can see, I have just broken a whopping 800 likes.

I know, super impressive.

Okay, now to the lesson.

So, what I did, was I created a SUPER targeted ad that went to anyone that had already liked my page.

I wasn’t after big numbers, I was after targeted leads.

I wanted people that not only had visited my site, but had gone as far as becoming a fan of 7 Figure Dad.

I then, created an ad with copy that would cater to them asking them to join my exclusive group.

Like magic, people started trickling in.

From our first ad test, we had 42 new members join our group.  37 of which actually stayed.

I wish I had a way to show results, but unfortunately you cannot track group statistics for now.

This is a huge win in building a richer, stronger community within your blog.

I found this to be a much better conversion than the ads and links I had been using on my site.

I also feel that when people are already on Facebook, they are in their comfort zone and more willing to press the “Join Group” button because they know the exact outcome versus doing it on a foreign site.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this quick tip for those of you who are trying to grow your online communities as well, because this is working for me.

And while you are here, join my awesome Facebook Community!

What’s your community building strategy and do you use Facebook Groups for your business?
