It takes only an average of three seconds for a driver’s mind to be taken off the road and for a road accident to occur. While some of this is due to texting, using applications for navigation leads to distraction, as well. Newer sports cars, such as the Corvette Z06 and Volvo S90 have the latest HUD technology, but one startup called Hudway Glass has created a device to bring a windshield head-up display to any car with a simple mount for $50. The company’s first product is an augmented-reality app that projects driving directions onto windshields for low-visibility conditions, especially at night, fog, snow or heavy rain.
