2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Sedan Interior Brings A New Standard

The American-market 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-class sedan is finally here and available to end the long drought of affordable Mercedes-Benz, though it doesn’t feel cheap at all. The solid luxury car is coming in one trim: the A220 with an option for a front-wheel drive or all-wheel-drive 4MATIC. Actually, the German automaker is delivering this sedan as the follow-up to the blockbuster CLA-Class while representing a new base for Mercedes-Benz lineup. However, this A-class sedan will pride slight difference from models for other markets, being a special package for Americans.

The Americanized Mercedes A-class shares a lot of similarities with the Chinese sedan but differs more from the A-class for European market which is a hatchback. Its wheelbase is not as long as the Chinese sedan lengthy A-Class L, losing about 2.4 inches. The American A-class sedan has a size comparable with the current CLA-Class. In comparison, the A-class is a little longer in the wheelbase and a little shorter in the entire length, somewhat taller and wider than the CLA-Class.

All A220s will have MacPherson strut suspension

A four-cylinder DOHC 16-valve turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is sitting under the sedan’s hood, producing 188hp and 221 lb-ft of torque with a maximum of 5,500rpm. That’s considerable excellent for a compact car, though the current CLA-Class has more muscle delivering 208hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan has only one transmission unit: a 7-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission which controls either all- or the just the front wheels depending on your choice. A MacPherson strut suspension is mounted in all the A220s. Only the all-wheel-drive units that are compulsorily coming with the 19-inch wheels have additional four-link autonomous rear suspension. But the base option, front-wheel-drive will be coming basically with 17-inch alloy wheels coupled with a torsion-beam rear axle.

The 2019 Mercedes A-Class gets the MBUXas a standard equipment

The American-market 2019 Mercedes A-Class sedan share the same interior features with its overseas cousins. The much-hyped Mercedes-Benz User Interface system (MBUX) unveiled by the automaker at the 2018 CES made its way into all A-Class as a standard equipment. The car has the same monolith panel where the infotainment system and gauges rest on. Customers have options for a 7-inch (standard) or a 10-inch touchscreen used in controlling the infotainment together with touch buttons on the steering wheel and a touchpad on the center console.

The system responds to voice commands just like Apple Siri, Google, and Amazon Alexa. The interior prides all Mercedes features such as gratifying ambient lights, multiple round air vents, leather, and wood finishing.

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Price

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan to be delivered as A220 and A220 4MATIC will be on sale later this year, 2018. We can only use the price for the closes model CLA to estimate the Benz A-Class price since it is yet to be announced. CLA base: 250 is available starting at $33,695.
