Ambit Energy kicks off its ninth-annual Convention in Dallas today Sept. 2 through Saturday, Sept. 5. Known as Ambition (#AMBITION15), the event is scheduled to host more than 8,000 independent consultants and is expected to provide a $6.7 million impact to the local Dallas economy, according to the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The estimated number came from anticipated spending by conference participants, meeting planners and exhibitors; local, state and Federal Taxes generated by the event; and total hotel room nights sold for the event. Ambition absentees are expected to generate $3.79 million in direct spending and $2.96 million in indirect and induced spending. Also, roughly $483,542 will be collected in local taxes off those sales. State taxes are expected to total about $277,500, while federal taxes are expected to be at $612,501.

A big part of the impact will come from booking event centers including the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center as the main hub, a dinner at Gilley’s Dallas, and events at the American Airlines Center, Salum Restaurant, Hackberry Creek Country Club and the Dr Pepper Ballpark. This is in addition to the Hilton Anatole and Omni Dallas Hotel serving as host hotels and also holding various events.

Ambit Energy estimated that each attendee will spend about $300 to $400 in restaurants and local businesses. The company is also helping attendees make reservations or giving suggestions to attendees who want to explore the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.
