Now and then, life throws us curveballs. Sometimes, a minor inconvenience momentarily throws us off our game. Other times, it turns out to be a delightful surprise that introduces us to something new and exciting. That happened when my family and I mistakenly made a reservation at the Bluebird Kitchen in Bellmore, NY, instead of our intended destination, Blackbird Restaurant in Wantagh, NY.
The Unexpected Turn
Our evening began with a bit of confusion but quickly became an adventure as we found ourselves at the doorstep of Bluebird Kitchen. Located at 2405 Merrick Road, Bellmore, NY, Bluebird Kitchen is a semi-upscale casual restaurant serving solid American food.
The ambiance was inviting, with a charming setup that promised a cozy dining experience. We embraced this unexpected turn of events and settled in, looking forward to what the evening had in store for us.
The Food Experience
The menu at Bluebird Kitchen in Bellmore was diverse, offering a range of options that catered to various taste buds in our party. One of our companions opted for the chicken pot pie. It turned out to be a bit spicier than expected.
In contrast, the rest of us thoroughly enjoyed our dishes. The salmon with squash was well-prepared, with the freshness of the fish complementing the sweet, earthy tones of the squash. The mushroom risotto was another winner, with its creamy texture and rich flavors making it a memorable dish. The pressed chicken too, received nods of approval around the table.
As for me, I chose the branzino over carrot puree and couscous. The fish was a little over-cooked, while the carrot puree added a subtle sweetness that balanced the savory notes. The couscous gave the dish an interesting texture, rounding it off nicely.
Our Verdict
In conclusion, our unexpected visit to Bluebird Kitchen turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the service attentive, and the food, for the most part, was delicious. While the chicken pot pie didn’t quite hit the mark for us, the other dishes more than made up for it.
Bluebird Kitchen offers a delightful dining experience, one that we stumbled upon by accident but will now be returning to by choice.
