World’s first fundraising platform for kids under 13 launches in UK

The world’s first cross-charity Fundraising platform for children under 13 has been launched in the UK.

SuperKind, the social action and charity platform has launched the world’s first fundraising platform for young children. Up until now, children have relied on their parents to create fundraising pages on websites such as JustGiving and schools have used pen and paper donation sheets that typically get lost in bags.

SuperKind aim to change this with the launch of their new platform, aimed specifically at younger children and schools who want to raise money for charities that they care about.

Co-founder of SuperKind, Keren Mitchell said: “Our fundraising platform has been two years in the making. My kids found sites like JustGiving impossible to navigate and their schools were not legally allowed to use them. They would come home with a paper sheet to be filled out and donations had to be collected and brought in in cash. This also meant that family living abroad could not donate and donations were often not eligible for Gift Aid.”

SuperKind puts children’s privacy and enjoyment front and centre. Only age-appropriate content is allowed on the platform, with photos and videos only visible to people who have a password. Children can earn reward badges through their fundraising and customise their pages to make them stand out. The whole process is designed to be as simple and safe for children as young as seven to use. The platform has also included a wealth of features for schools to make fundraising in schools as easy and fun as possible for children to take part in.

Children can fundraise for over 30,000 charities and good causes, including WWF, Shelter and Great Ormond Street Hospital using the SuperKind platform. Unlike many other fundraising platforms, SuperKind is a social enterprise focused on empowering young children to be change-makers.

Natasha Freeman, co-founder of SuperKind said: “Children can do incredible things. Like eight-year-old Tony Hudgell, who has raised over £1.8 million for The Evelina Children’s hospital where he was looked after when he was a baby. Especially in these difficult times, charities need our help more than ever.

We also know that the engaging in fundraising is great for children, helping them develop skills such as empathy, leadership and initiative. We couldn’t be happier to bring our fundraising platform to children and schools across the country.”
