Event: Mums Enterprise Roadshow, London, 25th September

The UK’s only free, child-friendly, flexible work and business exhibition comes to London for the first time on 25th September. With over 60 exhibitors and nearly 3000 attendees already signed up to attend the event, being held at The Business Design Centre, Angel, this event promises to be the biggest yet for the dynamic mum duo behind the events.

Mums Enterprise Roadshow, winner of the Jaqueline Gold #WOW award, is touring the UK with the aim of showcasing the very businesses, services and support available to working Mums, helping them navigate the maze of opportunity available to live and work on their own terms, whatever their situation.

Lindsey Fish, a former City Tech employee who decided against returning to her job after her maternity leave, conceived the idea after speaking to many mums who felt the same but weren’t sure of their options. Lindsey decided to set about bringing together mums on a mission with the businesses and services that could help them make a decision about the next step in their career. Lindsey partnered with friend and fellow mum in business Lucy Chaplain and Mums Enterprise Roadshow was born.

With the Mum Economy expected to be worth in excess of £9.2 billion by 2020 the Mums Enterprise Roadshow seeks to help facilitate this upward trend and predicts that by 2020 their events will have welcomed and helped empower and change the lives of over 30,000 women on their work or business mission.

Commenting on the decision to bring the exhibition to London, founder and CEO Lindsey Fish states “With a large proportion of the working mum population based in the capital, London was an obvious choice. London is an accessible location even for those traveling from further afield and is set to be our biggest show yet. We knew the event would be popular but the response has been immense. We are so excited to meet our London audience and can’t wait to welcome the 3000 mums who have booked to attend”

The full day exhibition will consist of over 60 exhibitors and relevant experts including ACAS, The Intellectual Property Office and Federation of Small Businesses as well as Talented Ladies Club and mumadnworking.co.uk offering information, advice and support around, returning to work post-maternity or career break, flexible working, franchise and home-work opportunities. In addition, for those unsure of next steps or are wanting to start or grow a business there will be multiple organisations exhibiting who are able to help.

On the day, there will be a host of facilities available to attendees, from 30-minute workshops offering practical advice for working mums to the 1-2-1 advisory corner, to speed networking. The Inspirational Story Stage offers the opportunity for mum-owned businesses to inspire others with stories of their journey. Being a family affair the event boasts plenty of child-friendly facilities such as baby changing, toys in the workshops catering areas and a pram park.  Refreshments will be available to buy throughout the day.

The roadshow is for mums by mums and London event is the penultimate location, with Birmingham as the final stop for 2017. There are still opportunities for show sponsors. Current sponsors include CashPlus Business, who provide a digital alternative to a high street business account for SMEs, Tideway, the organisation delivering the Thames Tideway Tunnel, who will be on hand offering attendees career advice and promoting opportunities within the construction industry and Simply Business, one of the UK’s largest providers of small business insurance with over 400,000 customers, are sponsoring the show’s free, no obligation 121 business advice area.

Mums Enterprise has also announced its ongoing charity partner The PANDAS (Pre and Postnatal Depression Advice and Support) Foundation. The charity is a natural choice as a high percentage of attendees are expected to be new mums. The event will be helping them raise awareness, funds and providing them access to potential volunteers.

The London show is set to be the flagship event of this year and as such has attracted interest from local and national press as well as the support of some high-profile celeb mums who have agreed to attend. Lindsey adds “It’s thanks to the amazing organisations involved in our events that we can truly change women’s lives for the better, forever. That’s what this is all about.”
