Facebook publicly releases its policies of Community Standards that determine the compatibility of the type of contents user can post and also introduces a new appealing process

Following the recent Cambridge Analytica scandal where Facebook is found to be involved in leaking the personal data of its 87 millions users to different third parties for targeted advertisement by breaching its own privacy policy of data sharing, there is severe anger and outrage among millions of users worldwide. Though this cannot outweighs the biggest data scandal still it is one of the important step of Facebook for its users. Facebook has now make public the details of its Community Standards which determines the types of contents users can post on Facebook without any risk of content removal. It also introduces a new appealing process for users who think their posts have been removed by mistake. The new Community Standards of Facebook can be broadly classified into different sections: Violence and Criminal Behavior, Safety, Objectionable Content, Integrity and Authenticity, Respecting Intellectual Property and Content-Related Requests. With all the policies of its Community Standards, Facebook aims to provide the freedom of expression in a safe environment with the key moto of Safety, Voice and Equity. Different types of hate speeches, racism, bullying, pornography and many other things which fall within this policy will be removed by Facebook on posting. So Facebook wants to filter its contents thoroughly to make them compatible with their Community Standards and to prevent any kind of misuse of their largest social network platform. This move will enable Facebook to tighten its security and to improve its algorithms for better filtering. More human content analysts will also be introduced at a later stages for better filtering of contents posted over Facebook. It also introduced a new appealing policy according to which if the contents of any user is removed by Facebook due to violation of its policy then the user can appeal and a Community Operations team will conduct the appeal within 24 hours. If the result of this analysis finds Facebook's mistake in removing the contents then the following contents will be restored. Facebook will gradually extend appeal to all users whose contents have been removed due to violation of Facebook's policy but the quality of the posted content will also be thoroughly judged according to Community Standards, failing of which will cause the removal of their posts from Facebook. Hope this policy will greatly improve the quality of the contents posted on Facebook until now and will definitely reduce its misuses.
