Facebook is all set to capture the online dating market with its upcoming feature of a new dating application

The social media giant Facebook is now gearing up to enter the online dating market very soon amidst the recent Cambridge Anaytica scandal involving leaking of personal data of 87 million users to different third-parties for targeted advertisements. This surprise announcement was made at the annual Facebook F8 Developer Conference where CEO Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that there are almost 200 million users on Facebook with their relationship status as single. So the new dating application aims to build a real, long-term and permanent relationships instead of focusing on just hook-ups and other temporary relations. The new dating feature will be optional and user will have to opt themselves in for making their dating profile publicly visible to others. The dating profile of user will not be visible to anyone on their Facebook friend list and the persons with whom users are not friends or connected over Facebook will only be able to see the dating profile if they have also opted in for the dating site. Thus Facebook wants its users to find the love of their life by expanding the reach of this dating application beyond usual Facebook connection. Following the recent data scandal, Zuckerberg emphasized on the point that this new dating application feature has been designed with utmost care to privacy and safety from the very beginning. He is positive that this new dating application will help user to find meaningful relationships with people beyond their Facebook connection. So now users are eagerly waiting for the official launch of this dating application feature with the hope that it will be the best of its kind to find their perfect life partner. But the introduction of this new dating application feature supported by a huge user-base of Facebook will in turn badly deteriorate the online dating market of Tinder. Tinder is currently the most popular online dating application and Facebook's new feature is surely going to give a tough competition to Tinder which already faced about 19% drop in its stock soon after Facebook made its announcement.
