Sydney Shopping Guide : Your Guide to Discount Factory Outlets Shopping

As the biggest city in Australia, it is not surprising that shopping in Sydney is fun. There are many more options and brands to suit all budgets and sizes here, compared to other major cities in Australia. For those who are looking for some end of season bargains from your favourite brands, Sydney has plenty of Factory outlet malls and warehouses which brands and manufacturers sell their end of season stock directly to the public. These Factory Outlets are popular amongst tourists and bargain hunters as there are great deals to be had. Below is your guide to Sydney Discount Factory Outlets Shopping.   Birkenhead Point Brand Outlet   Source : Connect Coaches Perhaps the most popular factory outlet in Sydney. The Birkenhead Point Brand Outlet is huge and if you are a serious shopper after a serious bargain, you will need at least half a day here. Before we get into the shopping bit. The Birkenhead Point is a great mall as it is located right on the Paramatta River. Here you get to dine on the water front and enjoy beautiful scenic view of the river. With options ranging from Cotton On to the upmarket Hugo Boss, there is something for everyone here. Brands that had discounted markup did have a proper mark up. For example, we walked out of Ralph Lauren with 5 pieces of clothing for less than $200, when it could have easily set us back $500-$600.  The mall tends to be busy on the weekends, so you may want to come early. Getting here : Have a fun day out and take the Sydney Shopper Hopper Ferry Services here! Departure from Circular Quay or Darling Harbour straight to the Birkenhead Point. If Ferry is not your thing the bus services here are frequently running from Victoria Road, Sydney CB daily. If you prefer driving it is quite easy to get here and you can also use the opportunity after to explore the beautiful suburb of Drummoyne but parking can be a hassle on the weekend. So do consider taking taxi/uber services. Brands to look out for : Polo Ralph Lauren, Armani , Nike , Esprit and Mimco     Factory Outlets Alexandria   This is one of Sydney’s best kept shopping secret. The factory outlets in Alexandria scatters around everywhere. So either be prepared drive a lot or to walk a lot more. The train station is just around the corner though. There are some really good brands and good bargain to be had here. We were surprised with the quality of items and the discounts offered here.  It also tends to be much quieter here, which makes browsing through to find great deals a whole lot better. Getting here : An easy train ride from St James Station on the T8 Line to the Green Square Station. If you prefer driving/taxi/uber , it is around 5 km away from Sydney CBD. However, if you are thinking about taking taxi/uber do remember that you still have to walk the distance to get from one store to the other, so you might as well take the train and save your money. Brands to look out for :  Puma , New Balance, Seafolly , UGG  , City Chic and Cotton On     Direct Factory Outlet   Source : DFO Homebush This is another popular factory outlet mall . Like Birkenhead Point Outlet,  the DFO Homebush offers a large range of factory outlet brands under one roof. You can find DFO’s in most major cities. Through our experience, DFO pricing hardly represent what we would call ‘ discounted factory outlet pricing‘. Every now and again you will find a goodie, but for us, it is hardly worth the effort of getting here for a ‘maybe’, all the way down to Sydney Olympic Park. Getting here :  Since its only 15 km from the city, the best way to get here is by Taxi/Uber or by driving yourself. There are not direct trains from the Sydney CBD to the DFO. The closest train station to DFO is  the Strathfield Station , to which you will have to take the Bus or Uber your way to the mall. Brands to look out for : Ermenegildo Zegna , Levi’s , Royal Doulton  , Superdry and  Sheridan      Market City Factory Outlet   Source : Leeving on Planes If you somehow cannot make it to these other places and are hoping for something within the city. Hooray! Market City Factory Outlet is right in town where Chinatown and Haymarket is. Even if you didn’t find a good bargain, you can always sample huge range of food and drinks around Chinatown. The good thing about Market City is, it is not just factory outlets. The Market City Building is also home to Paddy’s Market- where you can find just about everything from souvenirs, clothing, bags to food at reasonable price. Getting here : Walking distance from anywhere in Sydney CBD. Just look for Chinatown. Unless it is the weekend, parking anywhere in Sydney CBD is atrociously expensive so driving here is not recommended. Brands to look out for : Converse and Bonds     Factory Outlets Rosebery   Another Sydney’s best kept shopping secret. If you are after chic, upmarket Australian brands at a discounted prices , why not hang around the factory outlets in Rosebery ? they are located just around the corner from Alexandria.  Like factory outlets in Alexandria, they tend to scatter around. What makes this factory outlet area worth mentioning is that they have interesting selections of local brands discounted outlet you couldn’t find anywhere else.  So if you are venturing out to Alexandria by car, it’s worth taking a trip down here to see if there are anything that tickles you fancy. Getting here : From Sydney CBD, the best way to get around the area is to take the Bus 343 to Kingsford from Elizabeth St. Hyde Park. Stop at the corner of Rothschild Avenue and Morley Avenue. Brands to look...
