He relied on screen-reading software and Braille materials to access course content, and he often had to rely on classmates for assistance with handwritten notes and practical assignments. Despite these challenges, he excelled academically and graduated with a degree in computer science in 2013.
Shrikant’s story started to gain attention when, in 2012, he applied for internships at various tech companies. Despite his impressive academic record, he faced rejection after rejection due to his disability. Instead of giving up, Shrikant decided to take his future into his own hands. In 2015, he founded Bollant Industries, a company that specializes in eco-friendly and sustainable packaging solutions.
The name “Bollant” is a combination of his last name, “Bolla,” and “ant,” which symbolizes his commitment to providing employment and opportunities to people with disabilities. Bollant Industries focuses on manufacturing products like disposable plates, bowls, and cups made from natural, biodegradable materials like leaves and sugarcane pulp.
Shrikant’s vision was not just to create a successful business but to also make a positive impact on society. Bollant Industries became an inclusive workplace, employing people with various disabilities. Shrikant firmly believed in the potential of differently-abled individuals and was determined to empower them.
Under his leadership, the company grew rapidly and garnered national and international recognition.
