Cognitive Dissonance in America

Taking refuge in American patriotism is no longer an option for me. As a student of history, I can no longer ignore the most important element of compliant and anxious youth who are without moral bearing. At best, today's young voter is marginally displaced and uniformed. At worst, I fear that these college educated voters and unenthusiastic independent types are a "lost generation" in our American electorate. It appears that the last eight years does not speak to them like it does me. I'm beginning to believe that America's perceived strength is its ultimate weakness. These voters, the "dudes and dudettes" as I'll affectionately refer to them henceforth, still listen, watch and read not from information sources but affirmation sources. The establishment's propaganda mechanism is operating at 100% capacity and it's up to us to sift through the talking points and tag lines to find the truth.

I don't want future generations to be born into servitude. Maybe I'm too late. It takes very special people to see that pushing back and demanding liberty is necessary. Seemingly, too few have the ability or wish to do it because they simply do not understand what liberty is or what freedom means.
