This month the sprawling streets and skies of Tinseltown are filled with Pride, and it's not even June yet.
The Billboards are for Pride, a new six-episode documentary series from six different LGBTQ+ filmmakers exploring the struggle and victories for LGBTQ+ civil rights in America from the 1950s to the 2000s.
The FX limited series spans six decades of resilience and resistance, from the FBI surveillance of gays during the 1950s Lavender Scare, the Stonewall riots in the late 1960s, the impact of the AIDS epidemic in downtown New York City in the 1980s and 1990s, to the more recent battles for marriage equality and the evolution of transgender rights.
These docu-series launch billboards and street posters were captured along Santa Monica Boulevard, Pico Boulevard and La Brea Avenue on April 29, 2021.

Nothing ever changes if you don't stand up and fight for your rights for progress and equality.
Under the Trump administration transgender service members were banned from the military, they opposed the Equality Act, appointed anti-LGBTQ judges, rolled back Obama-era non-discrimination protections, failed to support trans kids in schools, refused visas to same-sex partners of diplomats, removed all LGBTQ visibility on government websites, banned U.S. embassies flying Pride flags and more.
Fortunately the new Biden administration has been moving to restore these protections and policies, although sadly Republicans and the right wing media continue to target trans youth for no good reason.
Today and always, be bold, be visible, be happy, be courageous, be compassionate, be inclusive, be equal, be loved, be proud.
