A Dream Trip to Ireland

IRELAND

Before Covid, our plan was to go to Ireland this month. The group was limited to 18 to allow for a smaller motor coach to navigate those narrow roads.

When this is over I will once again plan the Trip to Ireland. The country’s first stop will be Dublin for two nights. That will give us time to explore the largest and tallest church in England, St Patrick’s Cathedral founded in 1191. From there we will visit Trinity College before heading off to the Guinness Brewery for our beer sampling. It is said that a whopping 10 million glasses of Guinness are enjoyed every day around the world!

Next stop, Northern Ireland taking the scenic coastal route. Along the way we will stop in the historic town of Claringford with wonderful views of the Mountains of Mourne. We will explore Belfast one day. Then we’ll venture outside of Belfast heading to the northern coastline to see the beauty of the North Antrim hills and valley leading to the amazing Giants Causeway.

The next two nights we will stay in Galway. We’ll spend most of our time on the quaint Kirwan’s Lane that lies inside Galway’s former city walls. Kirwan Lane is a tight pedestrian street with houses made of rustic stone dating back to the 16th century. There is sure to be a pub or two we can visit.

One can’t go to Ireland without a visit to Ennis to hear traditional Irish music. While there we will explore the surrounding sights such as Ballyvaughan, an enchanting picturesque village on the West Atlantic Coast of Ireland. Doolin will be another destination. My group will have a choice of hiking two hours each way from Doolin to the Cliff’s of Moher or taking a boat ride to the Cliff’s of Moher. One evening we will attend a banquet and feast at the Knappogue Castle, built in 1467.

Leaving Ennis, we’ll take a drive around the Dingle Peninsula and Dunloe Gap hoping to get some wonderful photos of the rugged coastline and rolling green hills. We’ll also make a stop at the Dingle Distillery. We’ll finish our trip by staying two nights in the stunning Balleyseede Castle. One of the two nights we will have a scrumptious dinner in the castle.

So much to see and do. When this is over.
