Electroneum is a cryptocurrency that was built with the specific objective of capturing mobile games and online gambling markets. It is designed taking into account the ease of use of mobile devices, fast transactions and easy micropayments.

The currency allows for quick micro transactions, and Electroneum can be easily transferred between different games, applications and users. The currency has a maximum total supply of 21 billion.

Normally, cryptocurrencies are extracted with specialized equipment, such as PCs with multiple GPUs inside. Electroneum allows users to extract the currency even with the mobile application. Electroneum wallets are designed to be easily manageable on any smartphone.

One of the main advantages offered by Electroneum is that it makes it  possible to use both the graphics card and the processor of a personal computer. Because of this, this currency can easily be mined by current PCs with a certain degree of profitability. If you have a Gaming PC in use, mining Electroneum represents a great opportunity to generate some extra dollars.

Electroneum uses the CryptoNight algortimo , so it is compatible with mining clients designed to extract Monero. Claymore CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner  is the mining client that we are going to employ in this tutorial, since it offers an excellent rate of hash processing, is easy to configure and has a rate of only 2%.

1. Create a wallet for Electroneum

Our first step will be to open a Portfolio or Wallet . For this we have chosen the official app of Electroneum. You can use this wallet to store, send and receive Electroneum. It is also possible to import an offline Wallet from Electroneum to said app to check the current balance of the same, send funds, etc.

  • Official App:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.electroneum.mobile
  • Wallet manager:  https://my.electroneum.com/
  • Wallet offline:  https://downloads.electroneum.com/Electroneum_Offline_Wallet.zip

To start, go to the official Electroneum website  and download the official App on your mobile device.

Install the application on your Android phone. Then, go to  https://my.electroneum.com/  to create a new user account :

Then enter your email account and click on the link contained in the activation email:

Add your cell phone number and click on ” Send SMS ” to receive the confirmation code. Then, enter the code you just received on your phone and click on ” Submit confirmation code ” to continue.

Now you must establish a recovery email address (your recovery email must not match the main email address).

Enter the recovery email account and click on the link contained in the confirmation email to continue with the registration:

Next, you must establish your 5-digit security PIN:

To finish, enter the Electroneum App on your mobile (or from the website ) with your password and security PIN.

Copy your ETN wallet address from the “Receive” option

Congratulations! now you have an Electroneum wallet to receive your payments !. Remember to save your password and access PIN , otherwise you will not be able to access the Wallet.

Note:  If you have problems with the App, download the  latest offline wallet generator to generate a valid payment address.

2. Download Claymore’s Cryptonote GPU Miner

Download Claymore’s Cryptonote GPU Miner from the Nanopool website  or directly from the following link: Claymore.CryptoNote.AMD.GPU.Miner.v10.2.Beta

Open the compressed file and extract the “Claymore CryptoNote AMD GPU Miner v10.2 Beta – POOL” containing folder to your PC. Now go to the container folder that you just unzipped, and locate the file start_etn.bat, which we will proceed to edit.

3. Edit the file start_etn.bat

Next we are going to edit the file start_etn.bat with the notebook. To do this we click with the right mouse button on the file and select “edit” within the pop-up menu. Once opened, delete the contents of it.

We will copy the configuration parameters for Clamore Cryptonote GPU Miner from the Nanoopol website. To do this, go to  https://xmr.nanopool.org/help and navigate to the ” Miner Client / Claymore / Configure ” section.

We will see 2 options: “Exchange wallet” and “Local wallet” , since we have opened an account with the Electroneum app, we will copy all the contents of the “Local wallet” box:

NsGpuCNMiner.exe -xpool stratum + ssl: //etn-eu1.nanopool.org: 13433 -xwal YOUR_ETN_ADDRESS.YOUR_WORKER / YOUR_EMAIL -xpsw z -allpools 1

Go back to the start_etn.bat file and paste the parameters you just copied:

Now we must enter the address of our Wallet Electroneum, the name of the worker and a valid email address. For this we will replace the following parameters:

NsGpuCNMiner.exe -xpool stratum+ssl://etn-eu1.nanopool.org:13433 -xwalYOUR_ETN_ADDRESS.YOUR_WORKER/YOUR_EMAIL -xpsw z -allpools 1

  • Replace YOUR_ETN_ADDRESS by directing your wallet Electroneum
  • Replace YOUR_WORKER by a name of your choice for the worker (eg “worker1”, “digitalbodha”, etc, no spaces)
  • Replace  YOUR_EMAIL for your email address
  • In case you want to change the default server location (Europe), you just have to replace the current address (” etn-eu1.nanopool.org “) with the one of the Nanopool server of your choice (in this case we have chosen ethn- us-west1.nanopool.org ). To see the full list of servers, go to  https://etn.nanopool.org/help

Your start_xmr.bat file should look like the following example (always remember to enter your own wallet address):

NsGpuCNMiner.exe -xpool stratum+ssl://etn-us-west1.nanopool.org:13433 -xwaletnkBjBvKRdD8ejHLKG5eVdXAaNL9Prkg9VWwbnHRf9z3oUx2hLFyx7cFxLzowxzb4MJNfTVoVmbjgjpdk8XreLc7zhoCZzWL3.yourmail@gmail.com -xpsw z -allpools 1

Finally, save the start_xmr.bat file that you just edited, and close it.

4. Configure the file epools_etn.txt

Now we will have to configure the file epools_etn.txt in a very similar way as we did previously with the file start_etn.bat. To do this, go back to the Claymore container folder and open the “epools_etn.txt” file with the notebook.  You should see something like this:

POOL: stratum+ssl://etn-eu1.nanopool.org:13433, WALLET: YOUR_ETN_ADDRESS.YOUR_PAYMENT_ID.YOUR_WORKER/YOUR_EMAIL, PSW: x, ALLPOOLS: 1
POOL: stratum+ssl://etn-eu2.nanopool.org:13433, WALLET: YOUR_ETN_ADDRESS.YOUR_PAYMENT_ID.YOUR_WORKER/YOUR_EMAIL, PSW: x, ALLPOOLS: 1
POOL: stratum+ssl://etn-asia1.nanopool.org:13433, WALLET: YOUR_ETN_ADDRESS.YOUR_PAYMENT_ID.YOUR_WORKER/YOUR_EMAIL, PSW: x, ALLPOOLS: 1
POOL: stratum+ssl://etn-us-east1.nanopool.org:13433, WALLET: YOUR_ETN_ADDRESS.YOUR_PAYMENT_ID.YOUR_WORKER/YOUR_EMAIL, PSW: x, ALLPOOLS: 1
POOL: stratum+ssl://etn-us-west1.nanopool.org:13433, WALLET: YOUR_ETN_ADDRESS.YOUR_PAYMENT_ID.YOUR_WORKER/YOUR_EMAIL, PSW: x, ALLPOOLS: 1

In each of the servers you will have to replace the YOUR_ETN_ADDRESS parameters  with your Electroneum wallet address; YOUR_WORKER for a name of your choice for the worker, and  YOUR_EMAIL for your email address. (Clear the parameter YOUR_PAYMENT_ID , this is only used in case you want to mine directly with the address of an exchange like Cryptopia)

4. Run the file start_etn.bat

It’s time to start mining, for this we just have to run our file start_etn.bat . If everything is configured correctly, Claymore will start normally and proceed to recognize your graphics card, after which it will connect to the mining pool:

After a few minutes, Claymore began mining the first blocks. Congratulations! You’re already mining Electroneum!

To check that your equipment is correctly connected to the mining pool, wait a few minutes and go to https://etn.nanopool.org/ .

After a few minutes, Claymore began mining the first blocks. Congratulations! You’re already mining Electroneum!

To check that your equipment is correctly connected to the mining pool, wait a few minutes and go to https://etn.nanopool.org/ :

Place in the search box located in the top navigation bar (where it tells you “Address or payment ID) the address of your Wallet Electroneum. This will load a page where you can check the mining statistics of your system as well as modify the minimum payment threshold (from the “settings” option).

And here comes this tutorial. As you can see, mining Electroneum on Windows with the use of an AMD graphics card is a relatively easy task. So if you have a computer, a decent GPU with at least 2 GB of memory and internet connection, you can mine this currency without major inconveniences, Claymore will take care of everything else.
