Bortles on Seferian-Jenkins: ‘He is going to help us out’

The Jacksonville Jaguars ended mandatory mini camp last week and while there’s not a lot to glean from the practices, the chemistry between quarterback Blake Bortles and newly signed tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins has been something that’s standing out.

Speaking after practice, Bortles was asked how he’s done with a new body at tight end. Bortles was quick to prasie Seferian-Jenkins.

“He has been awesome. Since the first day he showed up, we immediately started working together and doing things. Throughout this whole OTA process, he has been good. He comes in our meetings with quarterbacks during the special teams stuff, so we get some extra time in there with him. He asks a ton of questions, and I think it is pretty easy when you come watch a practice — you can see how big of an impact he has made, and how much he is going to help us out.”

It will be interesting to see how much Seferian-Jenkins contributes. Since becoming the starter in 2014, no tight end has caught for more than the 455 yards that Julius Thomas posted in 2015.
