Tom Crean’s Hoop Hounds will be looking to establish some momentum when they play host to Arizona State tonight in Stegeman Coliseum.
The Bulldogs (5-3) have been up and down in Crean’s inaugural season, showing flashes of explosiveness (especially offensively) but at times have also looked like a team learning new schemes. The Sun Devils (7-1) will be the stiffest competition they’ve faced by a mile. Coach Bobby Hurley’s team just suffered their first setback of the season, losing to #6 Nevada a week ago after leading the Wolfpack by 12 at the intermission.
This is a tournament level team coming off a hard loss to a great team. Georgia meanwhile hasn’t played in 12 days since dispatching Texas Southern at the Stege back on December 3rd. Talk about a rough group to knock the rust off against. On the flipside, if the Red and Black can hang with this group, it could be a nice confidence booster for the looming conference schedule.
Tip-off is at 6:00 pm Athens standard time with television coverage on the SEC Network. This will be our official Open Thread for the night’s festivities.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
