About MICAT 2021
MICAT 2021 is an admission exam for Post Graduate Diploma in Management course (PGDM-C). It is organized by the Mudra Institute of communication, Ahmedabad (MICA). The exam will be held twice a year in the month of December 2020 as MICAT I & January 2021 as MICAT II. Upon qualifying for the exam, candidates have to go through the Group Exercise (GE) & the PI (Personal Interview) round.
Candidates can appear for both the exams. The higher level of scores is considered at the next stage of the MICAT selection process. CAT, XAT, GMAT qualified candidates will be eligible to apply for the MICAT examination.
The PDGM-C focuses on developing strategic marketing professionals. MICA Ahmedabad is considered as one of the best colleges in the field of marketing and the PGDM-C focuses on grooming business leaders by focusing on creative thinking, consumer-centricity, communication, and community outreach.
MICAT is held specifically for MICA Ahmedabad’s selection processes. This increases the difficulty level of the exam since the only candidates that appear are serious aspirants for MICA Ahmedabad.

Exam Pattern
The MICAT examination process has some distinct differences from other MBA entrances. It will have three different sections with their own time limits.
Part 1: Psychometric test
Part 2: Verbal Ability, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness, and Divergent-Convergent Thinking
Part 3: Descriptive Test
The aptitude test is perhaps the only common ground between MICAT and other regular MBA entrances. The Psychometric test is something that some institutes implement but most of the colleges hold this test during their Personal Interview rounds rather than the MBA Entrance Exam itself making MICAT different from other exams.
In addition to this, there is a descriptive test in MICAT which is not commonly witnessed with other MBA Entrance Exams. The closest example of this is the XAT Essay writing section which was, however, terminated last year.
Each section has individual time limits as follows:
Part 1: 30 minutes
Part 2: 105 minutes
Part 3: 30 minutes
Exam Mode: MICAT exam will be organized through online mode.
No. of Questions: There will be a total of 144 questions in the examination.
Time: Candidates will get 2 hours 45 minutes to solve the question paper.
No. of Sections: The question paper will be divided into three sections.
Marking scheme: Each correct answer will consist of 1 mark.
Negative marking: 0.25 marks will get deducted for each incorrect answer.
Section Parts No. of Questions
Section A Psychometric test 35
Verbal Ability 25
Section B General Awareness 25
Quantitative Ability 25
Divergent-Convergent Reasoning 39
Section C Descriptive Test 4
Rather than calling candidates based on the total score (which most other MBA Entrance Exams do), MICAT requires the candidates to clear each and every section in order to get a call from MICA Ahmedabad. Thus every section in MICAT is an elimination round.
Wishing all candidates the best of luck!
