FAKE FIREFOX UPDATE USED TO DISTRIBUTE SCAREWARE

Rogue Antivirus peddlers are using new tactics to push rogueware into computer systems. In the past you would be led to a Fake scanning page that would lead to a warning, then a fake Antivirus program.

Their new scam tricks users with a fake Firefox “Just Updated” page, the page that appears right after updating Firefox and opening it for the first time. There’s a catch though with a message recommending that you should update Adobe Flash Player right now.

A download dialog box immediately appears as soon as the page loads and the user does not need to click on anything.

When the user runs the file it launches a Roge Antivirus program (Fake Antivirus Program).

Apparently the rogue antivirus peddlers could not decide if it was going to be Firefox or Flash Player and added a both into the mix.

If you want to Update Adobe Flash Player go directly to www.adobe.com and download it there. Also for updating Firefox go directly to www.mozilla.com and download it there. Be safe!
