BOCA CHICA VILLAGE, TX (ValleyCentral) — A few white shapes emerge from swirling greens, browns and olives.

Seen from the International Space Station, SpaceX developments along State Highway 4 near Boca Chica Beach seem small. But the photos also show how much SpaceX has already built at its starbase in the US.

The photo also sparks the imagination of what a colony on a futuristic Martian landscape might look like compared to it, perhaps in terms of the orbit of Mars if Elon Musk achieves his goal of sending humanity to the red planet.

At ground level, the objects are regularly photographed by people who stop at the state highway. They take shots of the rockets, take selfies with the launch pad in the background, and take photos of signs and inscriptions such as the scribbled paint that reads “To Mars and Beyond…”.

However, the photo from space provided a whole new perspective and was released this week by NASA. A photograph taken on September 19, 2022 shows a vast swath of Cameron County countryside where the Rio Grande flows into the Gulf of Mexico and tidal waters flow in and out of Bahia Grande, South Bay and Laguna Madre.

“Previous rains delivered light-colored sediment to the surrounding coastal wetlands near the SpaceX space base,” NASA said in a statement. “The sediments also ended up in the Brownsville Ship Channel and the South Bay Coastal Preserve, where fish, shellfish and dolphins breed.”

Sediments can also be seen at the mouth of the Rio Grande, lighting up the waters along Boca Chica Beach as the sediments are pushed north.

“The Rio Grande often carries sediment that accumulates in the meanders of the river,” NASA said. “Sediment buildup can disrupt the flow of water, change the direction of a river’s flow, and lead to the formation of separate bends called oxbow lakes.”

The inhabitants of the valley call these old women “cutter“.

The photograph, ISS067-E-373247, was taken by a Nikon D5 digital camera with a focal length of 1,150 millimeters, according to NASA. It is provided by the ISS Crewed Earth Observation Center and the Division of Earth Sciences and Remote Sensing at the Johnson Space Center.

The picture was taken by a crew member of the 67th expedition.
