A 23-year-old male teaching assistant was arrested by the police after a camera phone is discovered from a boy’s toilet at a primary school.

The 23-year-old learning support assistant was questioned following an accusation of the offense of voyeurism.

School sources confirmed that police were informed and call in after a mobile phone was discovered hidden in an air vent inside the boys’ loos.

“A 23-year-old man was arrested after police were called to the school on November 29,” a spokesperson for Hampshire Police said.

“The 23-year-old teacher assistant has been released from prison but he still remains under investigation. Inquiries of the case still continue,” the spokesperson further said.

The school’s headteacher informed the parents in a letter that “In line with our safeguarding policy, I took quick action in informing the appropriate authorities.”

“I can now validate that the police are investigating the case and that we have taken all the required steps to guarantee that all children remain safe in school.”

Cops further added that “We cannot give any information about the case as the investigation of the case is ongoing.”

One parent of a pupil at the school said that “This is every mum and dad’s worst nightmare and we were terrified to hear what had been supposedly happening.”

“You seldom read about incidents like this but you never think it will be at your child’s school. The idea of someone recording your children like this is just the saddest thing.”

The parent further said that “The police require to take really swift and firm action about the case.”
