For those fortunate enough to do so, a golfer’s first round at Pebble Beach is a memorable occasion.
PGA Tour rookie Eric Cole took the most of his maiden voyage to Pebble Beach—and could be in store for more good times.

After his practice round of 65 at the Shore Course on Monday, Cole posed for a post-round photo with girlfriend Stephanie Williams. After walking the course with Cole, Williams figured they were just taking a picture to commemorate the successful round on the iconic course.
Cole then dropped to one knee and popped the question.

Williams told the PGA Tour’s website:
“He took off his hat and glove and I didn’t think anything of it. It’s such an iconic hole. Reed (Cochrane, Cole’s caddie) took the photo and that’s when he proposed.
“I probably cried for the first minute; I just didn’t expect it.”
Cole said the duo has been dating 7.5 years.
“It was a long time coming but better late than never. I got the answer I wanted.”
Cole’s week in Southern California has the chance to be even more memorable, as he stands tied for fifth after the first round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, two shots behind leader Hank Lebioda.
Both Cole and Williams are 32 and live in Delray Beach, Florida. Cole qualified for the PGA Tour off the Korn Ferry Tour last year and has made the cut in five of 10 events so far on the PGA Tour schedule, with a best finish of 27th at the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba.
