Question.1  What is a cell editor?

Answer:  Gives definition of specific cells in queries (intersection of two structures one characteristics structure and one key figure structure); using this you can override the default cell values.

Question.2  What are the options for calculating result as  summation?

Answer:  The sum of total values area displayed, for example, this could be used in reports where you use conditions; by; default results in condition displays the report result and not the filtered (conditioned) totals; maximum; minimum; count all values -> number of values; count all values 0; average of all values; average of all values 0; standard deviation; variance; suppress result; first value; last value; summation of rounded values.

Question.3  What are the options for “calculate the single value as”?

Answer: This is for each item; normalization data is displayed as a percentage of the result; normalization of result; normalization of .overall result; normalization of Query result; ranked list – size of the characteristic value  largest being 1; ranked list‘(Olympic) – similar to previous but the next smallest value when a value appears more than once Is not given rank increased by value 1; maximum; minimum; count all values; count all values 0; average of all values; average of all values 0; suppress single values.

Question.4  What is hierarchy?

Answer:   Structure of characteristics to view data in different ways.

Question.5  What are nodes?

Answer:  Nodes are like branches of trees; the uppermost is root node and a hierarchy can have multiple roots.

Question.6  What is a link node?

Answer:   This node is used to include a sub tree in a hierarchy more than once.

Question.7  What are intervals?

Answer:  This is to group leaves together automatically; so when a new value is added to characteristics it is added to the proper interval automatically.

Question.8  What are variables?

Answer:   These are query input, replaced at run-time by bex queries.

Question.9  What are the objects that support variables?

Answer:  Characteristics, hierarchies, hierarchy nodes, texts and formula elements.

Question.10  What is the scope of variables?

Answer:  Variables are defined for info objects; so they are available across info providers.

Question.11  Give the variable types?

Answer:  Characteristics, hierarchy node, text and hierarchy variables.

Question.12  What is characteristics Variable?

Answer:  You can select dynamic input for characteristics using this; for example if you are developing a sales report for a given product, you will define a variable for OMATC-RIAL.

Question.13  What are the variable processing types?

Answer:  User entry, replacement path, authorization, customer exit and sap exit.

Question.14  What is the option of “Pause Automatic Refresh”?

Answer:  When you enable this option, you can stop the query being refreshed automatically after selecting filter value or change query or properties; this is useful for big queries where you do not want to, wait for the system to refresh but just one time after you make all the changes.

Question.15  What is a template?

Answer:  You can create excel templates to display the hex queries. For example, you can create a corporate excel template containing your company logo and title. You can use this as a standard in your bex reports.

Question.16  What are the template options?

Answer:  Empty (nothing), select from the list – this shows a list of workbooks and you select one,  from a permanent! template – use a permanent template.

Question.17  Give an example of VBA?

Answer:  You can use VBA to customize the report; for example assume that you want to hide/delete some header/filter are after each refresh of the query; use the SAP BEX on Refresh macro to do this; by default this macro is empty; add excel code to customize the functionality of Bex queries in workbooks; remember that the macro functions are available only on bex and no when you do. web reporting using the same query.

Question.18  What are the read modes for query?

Answer:

  • H – Query to be read when you navigate or expand hierarchy; this mode is recommended by SAP.
  • X – Query to Read Data during navigation; OLAP processor requests data for each navigational status of the query.
  • A – Read all at once – read all data at once; will take long if it is a big query; use this if the info provider does not support selection or a user exit is active in a query.

Question.19  How to you enter documents?

Answer:  Either when you execute query (right click and select documents for b and left click and select document from web reports) or use admin wc bench ~> documents -> metadata path
