In a bit of self-aggrandizement, Israel’s Shabak has arrested two suspected Jewish terrorists and charged them with plotting terror attacks to avenge the murder of four IDF soldiers in Jerusalem several days ago.  The two, whose names may not be reported by Israeli media are (but will be named here), according to information provided by an Israeli security source, are Netan’el Garame and Nissim Levy.  Their lawyer, Itamar Ben Gvir, is a prominent settler activist who, in his youth, once vandalized Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s car and said “We’ll get him too.”  He revealed that at least one of his clients is a yeshiva student.

Many West Bank yeshivas, such as Od Yosef Chai, are notorious as hotbeds of Jewish terror.  It should be noted that the incoming U.S. ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, founded a fund to support another of these settler institutions, Beth El.  It is affiliated with the settler version of Breitbart News, Arutz Sheva.

In recent years, the Shabak’s Jewish Terror unit and the Nationalist Crime squad of Judea and Samaria [sic] police have led a dogged struggle against extremist right-wing activists suspected of attacks against Palestinians.  In the last two years, investigators cracked several open hate-crime cases, some which had been unsolved for years.

Among them, indictments were filed regarding the incitement case in Duma…Similarly, there has been a marked decline in the number of hate-crime attacks called by their perpetrators, “price tag.”

Note that a crime of Jewish terror in which an entire Palestinian family was burned to death is called an act of “incitement,” rather than by its real name.  Even in the clause following the reference above to Duma, the article merely states the family “perished,” refusing to use proper language to describe the heinous murders.  Further, while it is true that some suspects have been arrested in this case, one Shabak informer who was a co-conspirator and likely double-crossed the Shabak by not reporting the planned attack, has been neither named or charged.  He walks the earth a free man, though he should have the mark of Cain on his forehead.

Regarding the purported decline in price tag attacks, why would settler youth feel the need to burn down mosques when the IDF and police are doing such a stellar job of murdering Palestinians (240 dead in the past year since the beginning of what I’ve called the Lone Wolf Intifada).  With a government essentially doing the settlers’ bidding, what need is there to engage in terror?  After all, they have the entire state at their disposal.

Despite the claim of a reduction in price tag violence, some of the attacks in the past year have been deeply ominous.  Settlers left a knife outside a Reform synagogue, next to which the names of three leaders of the international and Israeli Reform movement were written.  An Israel apologist might dismiss such attacks against Palestinians, but this threatened Jews (and rabbis) as victims.  No suspects have been arrested or charged in this crime.

After reading the Yediot report quoted above and noting the self-congratulatory tone, I realized that my source might very likely have offered these names to me to prove that the Shabak is indeed dutifully pursuing Jewish terror and neutralizing.  This is a claim I’ve rebutted and rejected vociferously over many years.
